Thoroughly enjoyed this video. This man is not only a craftsman, but he is also an artist in his own right - the wonderful details of the siding. Yet, I fear it will all be for naught as those foundation posts begin to rot away in the soil. He will eventually have to correct that - install new foundation posts of concrete block, etc., or lose the structure, which would be a terrible shame... Such a talented and determined person - wonderful..! Wishing him all the very best..!

Termites will feast on those logs supports in the ground and the whole thing will come falling down in short order. He should have taken the time to make stone piers to support the cabin. So much work for such a short use lifetime of use, and alot of wastage of wood in cutoffs. No flashing on the roof so it will leak alot and rot out the roof and it's supports inside.

He knows. He won't be using this cabin at all. This genre of KZbin videos is exceptionally popular. At the time of my comment, he had 230,000 views in 8 days of uploading. He built it as cheaply as possible to garner views and revenue. Not everyone who does these videos does it like this, but there is a good sub-population of content creators who are just in it for the clicks ($$$).

@koncorde Termites exist everywhere there is woods and wooden structures, even in Australia where they put a solid metal barrier down that is permanent and so no chemical treatments are needed.

The climate isn't conducive to their survival beyond isolated instances. In contrast Australia is literally on the Termite Belt, so of course they have termites.

Cute house, but it has no waterproofing or insulation in the walls and no insulation in the ceiling. It’s gonna get pretty hot during the summer and freezing in winter.

Have you ever heard of the Japanese technique? We scorch the end of the post it’s underground so it won’t rot. They do that on the sides of their houses so which is pretty unique they never have problems with rot. You might want to try that the next time you build something with a stick in the ground.
