Mike is a tasteful drummer. He plays for the song. Sometimes a tambourine in one hand and a stick in the other. I appreciate his variable kit - sometimes two snare drums, sometimes a high hat between the rack tom and the ride cymbal. Sometimes he muffles a drum with a chamois or a towel. He gets the right sound and plays the right thing for the song. Mike is exactly the right drummer for this great band.

I know this video is about Mike but poor Bridget is behind a post for all the live footage. We love you Bridget!

After seeing this dude live, he is easily one of my top 10. I mean, he carried on a convo with the crowd as he kept a perfectly timed funky groove.... That's hard folks! Congrats Mike C :)

They always seem to downplay their early stuff a lot, but they have a bunch of great songs on those first two albums - some of my favourites from them, in fact. I find Dupont and Be Cool to be way more interesting as songs than pretty much all of the stuff from Free Yourself Up, and I feel the same about the material from their self-titled as well - their new stuff just has little to no risk in it at all, as good as it is.

I love this band! Seen them live twice, and this most recent time was in Birmingham, AL as a birthday present, and Mike tossed me his Vic Firth drumstick! (Presumably because of my stellar dance moves.)

That was awesome. I'm am always in awe of the fact that Mike can sing AND play drums. That in itself is a testament to his talent. Unrelatedly, my first pair were Vic Firth Corpsmaster MS5's, but first rock pair were 2B's. Still love 'em when I get to play.
