Something I find beautiful about techniques like this (I had called it “conscious condensate”) - is that there’s a personal skill to it that could never be taught. In willingly stripping away the attempt to communicate, you’re really getting under the technical hood that underlies the act of marking a page. It does wonders for tuning harmony and balance in compositions, as well as fine tuning pressure control and fluidity of strokes across mediums. Someone seeing me do this in public might assume it’s my first time picking up a brush, randomly testing it, without the skills to construct a meaning - but hundreds of hours back each of the swift squiggles. In a way, it’s representative of many works of modern art.. with the ‘I could do that’ mentality. Well sure, but have you tried? Thanks for sharing!

Asemic writing can also be done on fabric and incorporated into quilts or other textile art. You will need to stabilize the fabric by ironing it onto freezer paper so it doesn't "crawl" when you apply pressure. You will probably also need to adjust the speed at which you write.

I wonder how silicon tools would work as they should glide across the paper 🤔 I recently got a bunch of silicon gel brushes for facial mud application. I must try them as they come in different end shapes that are solid, not actually brush-like & are different sizes, some with corners, others rounded. I love ASIC writing but the dragging of a nib on the page makes my teeth ache in a weird way lol.

"Asemic Art" is nonsense art, as devoid of message as the work of Jackson Pollock.
@GwenFoxArtist2 ай бұрын
Well William.....I am so glad you shared your opinion. I happen to agree with you about Pollock (although not quite as strong as you feel) but Asemic writing within art is a form of art that is associated with fine art collage. It has its own importance in the art world. I don't believe it is nonsense art and devoid of message. Actually quite the opposite....it tells a story within the painting which is a form of communication with the viewer. Asemic writing also adds mystery which is one component of painting that is super important. What on earth makes you think Asemic writing within the painting is nonsense?
@kathleenjames27242 ай бұрын
You had my attention right up to the point where you sneered at craft. As if a master potter's creations don't count as art. Oh sorry, "fine art". Aren't you fine art artists special? 🙄
@GwenFoxArtist2 ай бұрын
Kathleen.....I consider pottery fine art because it is. Sorry I gave the wrong impression on fine art vs craft. I was referring to craft as putting images on coffee mugs, towels, etc.......I should have been more clear and I will next time. Thanks for pointing that out as I love pottery and wish I could do it as it takes a ton of skill to be a potter.
