Fun fact, Pinwheel's name in the original Japanese translates roughly to "three people in a giant robe." It references a form of traditional Japanese comedy where one person puts on a robe and another person puts their arms into the sleeves and tries to feed that person, to great comedic effect. The cultural reference was totally lost in translation, and the localization team presumably just threw their arms up and called him Pinwheel because that's what he looks like.

Btw, that "ugly Pokemon, that looks like its tail got cut off" was part of a group of Pokemon that are literally supposed to be abominations. They're a group of reanimated pokemon, but the one reanimating them, mashes together two fossils that don't actually fit. Which results in Pokemon that make no sense, because they're two halves of different prehistoric Pokemon. It's a reference to how archaeologists sometimes fuck up and create wrong dinosaurs, by just adding together fossils that are found entangled.

When Karina's render of the pokemon came on I literally pogged. That's honestly such an awesome render and looks so faithful to at least the old style of coloring and shading pokemon. Much respect.

Suggestion: Before the episode, everyone designs a flag. Then, during recording, everyone swaps their designs, and has to draw someone who would live in that country/place based on the flag’s colors and symbols. Also, please get Jacob and Nathan to try to pronounce the word “vexillology”.

I’ve barely even started this and I’m so pleased. In 2020 I made new D&D monsters for inktober, and numerous monsters were inspired by combining randomized Dark Souls bosses and pokemon, so this is perfect for me
