If a Flavin is unplugged, is it still art?

I did some research. The answer is no, from what I have been told. However if it is art to you then it’s still art. I have not seen any Flavin that is off yet, I’ll keep you posted.

While he trys to explian this type of art the more i feel the art piece is pointless.

Then, your perception of pointlessness is the point (for you). Seriously, as a minimalist Flavin would have respected your position. I am drawn to this kind of art because I get tired of the heavy ideological and intellectual baggage of most art - it's trying to tell me something, and it can become oppressive. The point of Picasso's painting "Bombing of Guernica" is quite clear. I find it banal. Feher explains his own perception of Flavin, and it's quite a good analysis. For me, I see Las Vegas, and it's all these awful lights. Yuck. Then, I see Flavin and he has reframed the neon lights, and the light is beautiful.
