In response to the radical process and artwork of Medardo Rosso, the Pulitzer has commissioned three internationally renowned artists-poet Mary Jo Bang; choreographer and media artist Jonah Bokaer; and visual artist Diana Al-Hadid-to reflect on his work, and how it relates to their own artistic practices. In the video series available from the links below, Bang and Al-Hadid discuss materials, process, and historical contexts for Rosso's work. Bokaer's response became its own artwork, IMMUNITY, which includes performer Wendell Gray II and will be screened at the Pulitzer from May 10-13, during regular open hours. Diana Al-Hadid was born in Aleppo, Syria in 1981. She received her BFA in Sculpture from Kent University, OH, in 2003, and her MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, in 2005. Her work is included in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond and The Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, and she has had solo exhibitions at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas; Centro de Arte Contemporánea, La Conservera, Murcia, Spain; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; among other museums.
