ARTMS | ‘Pre1 : Birth' MV REACTION | I can't even form a sentence...

Hello, Greek Orbit here sharing some info about the imagery! Pointers: 1. Woman in white light, gold horned deer: In Greek mythology, 'The Elaphoi Khrysokeroi' were five golden horned deer, sacred to the goddess Artemis. Four of them were harnessed to her chariot and the fifth known as the Kerynitian roamed free. Herakles was sent to fetch the last as one of his twelve labors. This may be a direct hint for who or what the girls are and why that lady in white is so obsessed with getting them all in one place (we see Heejin as the only one truly roaming around the streets, by herself, all the other girls are either in a house, in a train or still in the cocoon stage). 2. This may be a sequence of true birth: The goddess gave the girls life, brought them into this world as comets, and used the earth as a cocoon stage to help them grow but once they started opening their wings she got greedy and wanted to bring them back to their roots, back to her. We have to note that Haseul is the only girl staying in the house she was raised by Artemis, Choerry seems to be the youngest, still experiencing the pampering and solitude of her cocoon stage. We see the girls being represented as flower children as well, they did flourish with the help of the goddess but staying kids forever is not something they can do any longer. It also needs to be pointed out that Jinsoul is probably the one person who ratted Heejin out, so the goddess can know where she is so she can bring her back. Thats why they both seem sad and Junsoul is seen crying too. 3. White light: This could be godly knowledge or manipulation from Artemis' side. The latter seems more plausible since the girls look entranced when the goddess hits them with this light, some even try to avoid her gaze. Maybe that light hypnotized Jinsoul and made her go against her sisters, giving away Heejin's location. At the end of this mv, we see the girls in the original house, dressed as dolls, sitting while the lady in white is behind them, almost watching their every move, keeping them in check. Those who left previously wore different clothes, not at all similar to what they had when they were in the house. This may be another hint regarding Artemis' way of controlling the girls, seeing them as little dolls in a doll house she owns. Lastly, I want to give some context about Artemis as a pantheonic deity. She embodied the sportsman's ideal, so besides killing game she also protected, especially the young. She is a fierce goddess, very calm and collected but a hunter nonetheless, her presence in this may be a dichotomy, showing how a female existence can have double meanings. Okay, I am sorry about this long comment, I hope it helps to understand at least a small portion of the mv!

When a kpop group does something that is sonically and visually for the art and not for being chart friendly or having the same formula most releases follow, I gain great interest. Following LOONA from when they were announced beginning with Heejin up until where we are with ARTMS I'm just like wow, Birth is really a stand out for me artistically. It makes you think about what you're seeing and what you're hearing and how those things make the characters feel (in this case, the members) and how it makes me feel too. If the rest of the releases are this good then I'll be so pleased.

This was is so good i got teary eyed. First of all having these girls together making music is a WIN. Haunting vocals and visuals absolutely on POINT. Beautiful , dark and creepy is the ultimate combo. This instrumental is equal parts GENIUS and INSANITY The fact that this exist is a win. We live in a world where this song exists... incredible.

@@chrisssw_ @urmomvia they're ex loona members. the mess that happened in their old company is what happens to every small company who doesn't understand their own limits. they have a vision but no realistic way of actually executing any of it. and ofc they're working with their old producer jaden jeong who doesn't seem to have learned his lesson. simplicity is key when you're a broke company. too many groups, sub groups, lores, mvs.... they just don't have the budget to manage all that. what's tripleS up to lately with their weird concept? nothing much. im afraid artms is just gonna end up like loona again

I'm gathering from the group name they're referring to the goddess Artemis, goddess of the moon, the hunt and wild animals, so i think thats the other figure in the video. IIRC, Artemis was a virgin goddess and not very fond of men. I'm super intrigued by this!!

The visuals, lyrics, just everything are so stunning, eclectic, creative & also haunting. I love Greek Mythology so for me the imagery and lyrics are oozing with everything about Artemis. From her being the goddess of goddess of the hunt, wild animals, nature & vegetation (them as flowers), vegetation, childbirth (the title), care of children, and chastity. The deer made me think of her being goddess of the hunt, but also one of the men she punished for him accidentally stumbling on her while she was bathing by turning him into a deer & then then sending his dogs to hunt and tear him apart.(that’s what I got from the deer head with the red candles and also the visual of something being torn apart & “bloody”) There are so many more references, but I loved EVERYTHING thing about this!!

These lines might help a bit to get what’s happening here. Please have a read. So, IMHO J Jeong's creativity, Digipedi's production, HYMAX's alternative K-pop composition, and JinSoul, J Jeong's lyrics, were combined on this MV and intended to create such confusion, doubts, and emotions in the viewers by telling two parallel stories. First, the mystic visual art layer refers to the protection the five girls receive from Artemis, the Greek mythological goddess of nature, wildlife, birth, and specially care and healing of children and young women. But she also was identified with Selene, the personification of the moon (LOOΠΔ) and it happens that the mysterious woman is themselves who splits in five pieces to conceive five meteorite-like babies that fall from the LOOΠΔ. BTW, Chuu was accompanied by two Korean mythological dokkaebis along her debut MVs ‘Underwater’ and ‘Haul’ that brought her care, fortune, and light. The second layer performed by them in an intensely dramatic fashion tells their own real-life painful Birth as ARTMS as it easily can be associated to their sad labor experience under the two disgraced executives of their former company: Lee Jong Myung, co-CEO and Lee Kyu Tae, COO; Not being part of the company BBC. Similarly, OEC’s debut ‘Air Force One’ MV storyline is about how all members, led by Chuu and followed by OEC sue and defeat these dudes. The crown there represents their unfair labor contracts. Now, LOOΠΔ members never disbanded but only ended their unfair contracts, so they could join the parallel projects to reinstate LOOΠΔ led by J Jeong's MODHAUS/ARTMS and Eric Yun's CTD E&M/Loossemble, former BBC Creative and A&R directors, both close to all girls but also aware of the value of the LOOΠΔ brand, the LOOΠΔverse lore and of course the talents they’ve originally selected and carefully have been developing and extending until now. This last fact explains why nearly all members of LOOΠΔ are complete artists that can shine at singing, dancing, playing, acting . . . BTW, “coincidentally” Artemis is the name NASA gave its project to colonize the moon. So, don’t be surprised if you hear about a new comeback of LOOΠΔ in the future because it will happen and surely will be epic. Thanks

Spoiler warning? We're going to have to wait till Virtual Angel comes out for more context on the lore. So far I've gathered some information regarding the lore based on what the girls have said in videos. So for some reason the girls are going somewhere. We don't know if they've been kicked out of Eden or are escaping from somewhere. They are trying to make it somewhere. But for some reason Artms (the unicorn/light lady) is looking for them. We're not sure for what purpose, we have no idea if she's good or bad. Some people think she either divided herself or was killed and made into five parts to either create or give the girls powers. All we know is that HeeJin and Jinsoul are the only ones that see her in the mv and at the end they all become one. The girls also mentioned that the sky babies and the weird plant things are them. Haseul also mentioned that she was waiting in the house for the other members because it was her birthday. We unfortunately don't have much to go off of because most of it is missing context. There is a curve ball some people mentioned that we don't even know if some of this is 100% accurate because in the context of mv the girls are tried and lyrics talk about manipulated memories and illusions. I really only knew Loona from PTT, because I'm all about the jazz or the rock (Mamamoo, Dreamcatcher, Pixy, Purple Kiss, etc), so I don't really know the Loona members well yet. I started following all the girls when BBC started doing what they did. Since then, I have been loving Chuu's work, been loving the OEC / ARTMS chemistry, and Loosemble is not always my style, but they are just solid, wonderful performers. But. This M/V. HeeJin, tho. Stealing my soul. That is all.

There's no ai involved in this mv or the rest of the album, it was only for the reveal of the other premiere singles and apparently we're getting the "real art" versions of those teasers soon
