It's somewhat intuitive to integrate your shin muscles a lot when starting to learn the ankle technique, but gaining control over both- shin and calf is so damn hard. People will see more progress with calf motion only, which doesn't mean the other technique is wrong. It generates a lot of power in your strokes. The most important thing is to decide for one of the two, know which muscles you should isolate / train and keep practicing that one only until you're there.

Yes it's whatever you wanna develop as the most efficient for you and as long as it works for your style and speed 😉

The only thing that really matters is spring tension. Keep everything else at stock. For spring tension this is a condensed explainer kzbin.infoAbr1OzI_Ovk?feature=share. In that video even though I say I use maximum spring tension, I recommend starting at medium if you don't have much control yet. because if you go maximum to get the fastest rebound straightaway it will be too intense for you and give you too much fatigue. If you're talking about your slave pedal, it's never going to respond like your main pedal unless you upgrade your shaft like shown in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZXElJSKpryCnsU&lc=Ugzj_R7amgTBOeY1GOd4AaABAg But if you're playing under 150bpm then your main focus is actually to develop your technique and muscles consistently and stock settings will pretty much be okay. The worst thing anyone can try to do is constantly adjust their settings and their legs keep having to adapt to something new and never get consistent. Once you can hit that 150bpm comfortably, then gradual step by step changes to adjust the spring tension every month of practice will help you get faster and faster.
