Got sober 7 months ago after a 5 year binge. Holy christ I feel better physically and mentally. Still have problems with anxiety but I'm going to the Dr soon to try and get medicated. This song is so accurate with the black eyes and minor injuries I slipped and fell so many times and broke things/ hurt myself. Well done on getting sober it's very difficult I'm sure your kids will appreciate it and it showed them quitting is possible 👍🏻

Yeah 5 yrs clean and sober and thank god for that! I was like you my personality didn't change really other then I tend to get more quiet. But it's not a real change in how I regularly behave. That said my downfall became when I wanted other substances to mix with the alcohol to party all night on and that is when I really got into trouble. But I was able to hit rock bottom before it killed me or put me behind bars permanently. So I love the song and the reaction. Tom's songs are always 🔥 but this hit home to me. Anyway those out there struggling just know you're not alone in this fight and you can get help at anypoint when you're ready to stop or hit your bottom.

When I drink more than the limit I can remember at that moment, but when I wake up I don't usually remember. That's why I set limits and try not to drink and if I do there is a set limit. I also, love alcohol and it runs on both sides of my family. So, I try to do my best.

I can agree with the more confident shit, I got a buddy I've been drinking with for 16 years, he gets mean drunk and tries to fight, he was a logger and could clearly kick the shit out of me, i knew I'd lose. About 2 months ago after dodging the aggression for 16 years I finally said fuck it. He rolled up on me at the neighbors bitching about something and I was finally drunk enough to go "FUCK IT let's do this then, and just go back to having a good time." Well I lost, but 5 minutes later we were drinking beers and back to best friends again. Lasted longer than I thought I would to be honest but I'm not ashamed to say I lost.

Nooo. This reminded me of the first real drinking experience I had, it sucked. I chugged down TWO BOTTLES, one of some Turkish beverage called 'Tekirdag/Raki'? It is basically a vodka. And a bottle of dropshot. Just saying, but I was around 15-16 at the time. It was outside hanging in a park with friends. Then I tried going home on a bicycle. I had to go underneath a viaduct. I fell. I was like, fuck it and went to sleep under a fucking bridge. Other friends on their way home found me, tried to carry me home. Dad happened to drive by on his way home from work. Then when I was about to step into the car, I called out to my dad from the other side of the car and over the roof I did some stupid shit and then threw up in the car. Blabla, I ended up home and was telling people to not tell my mom because you know, that woman is my mom. I don't want shit when I'm hungover the next morning. These "people" were in fact my dad, sister and guess what, my mom. I got shit the next morning, while I was hungover. Edit: the end, thanks for reading.
