I’ve been practicing this style of stenciling for a while now and I did have one issue I overcame that he didn’t touch in this video. Let’s say you were doing this and you did ever proper step and after you hit the “ invert “ step you have a bunch of black blotches what you do is restart the step process what I do now before even doing the duplicate I’ll take the original photo go to the wand tool and go to “ hue, saturation, brightness “ and make sure there is 100% no color by sliding the saturation to the left then I’ll slide the brightness between 50-60% then continue the duplicate color dodge invert and gaussian process. It’ll prevent any of the black dots / blotches.

Hey Dave. You said at the end there about to. Much black on the TS app . I found that aswell so I get to the limit, download and then go to the picture in the gallery and edit. Going straight to the eraser and rub out what you don't want in the stencil. Easy to change thickness of the pen tip so you can erase small pieces and if I see something I like in a magazine or similar, I use tracing paper to get the main lines and put it on top of the stencil machine paper and go over with a pencil. Perfect and easy as.

Hi Dave...another awesome and informative video...thank you! QUESTION THO - did your stencil print come out black, if so, what transfer paper is this? 🙏🏼 Also, are you saying that your prefer your thermal printer over your Canon printer?
@ArtSomething2 жыл бұрын
thank you Crystal glad you enjoyed it. The stencil looks like it came through the thermal machine black but its just really dark purple, once it goes onto the skin you will see the purple far more then when its on the stencil paper. And yes I prefer the thermal printer over an inkjet printer, mainly cause I like how much stronger/ longer lasting the stencil is when placed on the skin compared to the inkjet printer. (just personal preference)
@vixensbeautyden2 жыл бұрын
@@ArtSomething okay gotcha, so that brings me to this subject - I’m having an issue with the ink NOT coming off the skin once the tattoo is done. I use a thermal printer and say there’s a full circle and then the client doesn’t want a full circle, I can’t get the rest of the ink off the skin..once I’m done. Am I not wiping enough, am I leaving the stencil on too long prior? Or could it be that I’m suppose to wipe the stencil prior to tattooing - like taking the bulk of the ink off first? Another huge question - I do mainly small/fine line tattoos…would an inkjet be more suitable for this? I find the thermal printer doesn’t pick up small details. I have one like yours. I’ve been hand drawing and now wanna switch to something that’s easier. I really appreciate you! Sorry for the story book!

Using tracing paper, stencil paper, light boards and what not are not necessarily dead as I was making stencils that way just a few years ago.
