personally when that happens i take a photo/screenshot, flip it, and use it as a reference just so my brain better understands the shape of what to draw

i think I've used similar tricks before. i study art and i remember our teacher telling us this trick to transfer our drawings on another paper when we didn't have transfer paper at that time also this is completely unrelated but what one of my teachers said but if you want to test out changes for traditional artwork, you could invest in some tracing paper (which are usually transparent) and loosely sketch the concept to see how it looks like without making a commitment

Don't focus on the I suck part, instead it should be the how and what can I improve would it be the anatomy, line weight and width, hair, backgrounds, etc. For me, instead of a generalisation I go into why my art feels off. As a final note, everyone is learning even Sam and don't be afraid to take breaks or sticking to one art style

With the copy and paste in real life thingy I use it a lot but not on paper. I transfer it onto wood so I can cut out shapes and stuff on wood that don't look wonky. for example at school we had to make something out of wood and I wanted to make it Metallica themed so I used this to transfer the logo onto the wood so I could cut it out

The eye tip is so great❤ I drew a sketch and decided to perfect it more.. saw that the eyes weren't at equal distance and erased one of the eye🥲I spent over 30 minutes just to match the eyes and when it still looked wierd, i did the copy paste method...guess what, it looked even more wierd😭 As you said, due to the paper you can't see the positioning of the eye, so you won't be able to get it right. And even if the shape is a little same, a slight difference in Shading and stuff, changes the look of the eyes too.

I have never heard the trick of drawing the upper lid on one side, draw the upper lid on the other, and so on to get draw symmetrical/accurate eyes. Gonna practice that at some point
