Thank you for this video lecture. I’ve ordered your book - it’s coming Monday! It’s nice to get an overview and insight to how you wrote it. I watched another video where you were being interviewed and another where you were explaining your painting process and set up. All very interesting! I don’t even oil paint. 😂 I use watercolor and acrylic. Now I’m exploring gouache.

I have both books. I have so many books on oil painting, and these may be the best in my collection. ❤

Where was this book 30+ years ago?! As a kid I did paint by number. They were oils in those days. Then for my birthday one year I got a set of oil paints. I loved to paint, but I was having a lot of trouble mixing colors. Often I'd end up with a muddy brown color when I thought I was mixing green or purple etc. I finally stumbled across a book that explained how all paints have bias and how you could be mixing complementary colors and not even know it because the blue leaned towards red (ultra marine blue) and the yellow (cad. yel. med.) leaned towards orange! I am surprised that it is seldom brought up in most books on color mixing.
