Every time you said "That was messy." felt a little more encouraged to just relax and do my best. If things are messy... just try again or fix them in the software. Thanks for not censoring your process! There are lots of people trying to do what you do on KZbin, but your humanity and authenticity is winsome. On top of this you are a very good teacher. Your pace and way of demonstrating and communicating is easy to watch and understand what you are doing.

Have really liked your mini MIDI controller comparisons, your comment about 80% of viewers not being subscribed made me finally do it! FYI - I've ended up with both the Novation Launchkey Mini and the Arturia Minilab, your comparison video convinced me how each has a different focus for either Ableton or Arturia plugins integration, nice to have the right tool for the right use!

I bought 4 x mini’s for my new MPC One and ended up keeping the Arturia, the other 3 went back to Amazon. What I love about this mini is the 16 infinity qnobs. I ran the global learning hack on on the MPC one and have all 16 fully mapped. It’s is so awesome.

Thanks for making this video. I just subscribed. Although this is 2 yrs old, I’m finally picking up the Arturia. And I really appreciated how you showed how to use it with Ableton Live as I’m not the best at it. I’m more of a guitar player than keyboards/MIDI player. I just came to the point where I wanted to created backing tracks that were my own. So this really gave me a head start. This product may be aging for regular keyboard/MIDI users, but for me it probably has everything I need and more. It was between this and the newer Akai. If I might make a video suggestion/request…How to navigate Ableton Live. I’ve messed around for hours with other videos, and to a degree I’ve had a little success. But I think you taught this very well and that you’d just kill it in a video of how to get the most out of Ableton. Just my 2 cents but then again I just subscribed to your channel. Maybe you already do!

Assigning different colors to the pads was one of the first things I did after I got my Minilab MKII inverted. I don't get why they're claiming it's a new feature. edit: oh, I get it now! Basically if you had configured a pad to stay illuminated, the light would deactivate as soon as you pressed it. Now they stay illuminated even after you press them :) I remember being so disappointed over this haha. Great update!

Great vid, I'm looking for something with endless encoders to pair with my Launchpad in Ableton, just to control my device parameters with my spare hand while I play. Obviously a Launchkey or Launch Control would be optimal *if* they had endless encoders, but alas they don't so I think the Minilab Mk2 looks like best substitute. I do have an M32, which has lovely endless encoders, but the Ableton integration is pretty meh, at least if you're like me and can't be bothered to map everything.

just watching your video after just acquired my Minilab MK2. It wasn't so clear when I registered the product with Arturia whether or not it updated the firmware once installed the Midi Control Center because it has an upgrade button that seems to be active, indicating that I could perform an upgrade. However, it appeared with an error message when I tried to create a folder for saving the firmware! I later found that the firmware revision listed seems to be the latest otherwise that area would have shown a message for an upgrade to be performed. So I assume that version 1.1.2 is in fact the latest firmware. If it is the case then I had nothing to really do, except maybe just installing their MIDI Control Center which triggered the update? Anyway, the controls seem to work nicely with Korg Gadget 2 on my iPad. You mentioned that you would have liked the octave buttons to indicate any incrementation when pressed. In fact it is possible to have them blink for that particular result. I had noticed that setting in the Midi Control Center under the tab (upper right). Switched to ON will blink at a different speed whenever the octave is changed. When levelled the lights will switch off. Thanks, I have subscribed now.

Is there any way to customize the programming of the minilab with ableton? I mean being able to set what each knob does by default when using the ableton programming preset; I'd like to be able to cycle thru plugins on the selected track in the same way it allows to use a knob to cycle thru tracks, and overall get rid of the session programming since I only use the tracks' editor. I'd like it for example to recognize all 16 parameters of massive without having to assign midi controls so every track using a massive plugin can be tweaked using all 16 knobs. If there's any way please help me out.
