I still say the Arturias and Behringers are leaving money on the table. By not making midi controllers in the body style of the old analog behemoths. I’d pay a pretty penny to have an Oberheim VST that I controlled with a mock-up OB-Xa controller.

Very good synth emulation - the original in the 80s was legendary. Now with the added velocity volume switch and the reverb and chorus, theres no stopping us!

If I can't get my hands on an actual OB-xa. I will settle for a 42" flat panel touchscreen monitor and a midi keyboard embedded in a wooden case to replicate in real life this setup(5:23). With the added benefit of the on-screen keyboard to expand the available octave range. I'm dead serious. I will build it!!! LOL!

How many people who own the gear or have used the gear think Arturia synths are authentic emulations?lol This is another example. It sounds useable as a synth in it's own right but bears little resemblance to an original Oberheim . Even 'Jump' doesn't sound like 'Jump.' I have an original, if you split the keyboard and add a tiny bit of (any) delay reverb it sounds like this - the bass notes are set at max resonance. They're much smoother - don't ask me why 2020 can't make 1980 synth sounds it's a genuine mystery, but here it is, a famous example kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIXWZZajnq1lr8k

I just don’t get it... If you really appreciate the warm, rich and unique sound of a real Oberheim that even the magnificent Ob-6 cannot match, how can we pretend to call this new VST an OBXA. Arturia is an excellent company who have offered us beautiful reproductions of classics digital synthesizers but I believe that there is still a lot of work to do to recreate the true imperfect nature of true analog sound. In the meantime, this new vst should be called differently and more defined as "inspired by" the OB-XA. It would be more authentic.

I’ve never heard a real OB-Xa make these sounds before - not an authentic emulation. More of Arturia’s putting a vintage skin over their generic digital synth engine to sell units. Eye candy.

True. I played a real OBX-a in the 80s and this is totally not like one.

That's a plain old lie. It's code written for this emulation. They added a few features to give it a wider sound palette

Orio Menoni agreed. Arturia got the “Jump” and “Brass Ensemble” in the ballpark as an OB, but every other sound on it sounds like more of the same-old same-old fodder that’s in every Arturia supposed “emulation” plug-in. They all sound the same! All my Arturia plugin synths sounds the same. Ultimately, they all turn into the same generic digital VST bell and pad synth. All of them, minus the piano and organ-based ones. The new OB-Xa V is not a viable OB emulation, IMO.
