It's interesting how everones opinions vary. I think the sound is quite warm and rich even if it has some metallic sounds too. I also think it has an "old" quality to it. By that I mean that it sounds like the very first and early synthesizers. But I am in no way an expert in this so forgive my untrained ears if i am wrong. Lovely sounds however.

I agree -- this one's a sure hit. I'm a bit puzzled by some of its detractors. What's not to like, other than that it has "only" 6 voices of polyphony. But that doesn't seem to have hurt the reputation of the Juno 106 or the PolySix, does it? Nope.

Thanks for another great tutorial I always enjoy to watch them. I have a question and dilemma and because you have a Arturia matrixbrute probably you are the right person to ask 😉 The last months I was looking for a synth I was thinking for example about hydrasynth desktop because it has a nice interface and tons of features but wasn't 100 % sure if like the sound. With Artutia Matrixbrute and new Polybrute is a different story I absolutely love ❤️ both and here we are my dilemma. I know 6 voices lot of new features 5 octaves, better screen but also no cv no audio input and only one position panel that sad the flexibility of matrix brute 3 different types is great and very handy. Matrixbrute you can much cheaper now and with 2.0 firmware got a lot new options and can connect with eurorack. Maybe a good idea to buy matrixbrute first and 2-3 after as a second synth poly brute 😀 but how I explain it to my wife. Please tell what is your thing comparing both? Are you getting on polybrute or keep both? Regards

Feature-rich, exciting, gorgeous, and chockful of creative possibilities. At the same time... at around U$2,500 it costs nearly 20% more than an ASM Hydrasynth(49)+Deepmind 12 combo, and (when properly set up) the latter could be considered superior in some aspects. (Or not.) I have the MatrixBrute and I'd never trade it for this Poly, but it's still incredibly tempting...

I think the morphing feature demoed really badly when used on its own. That is why I suspect so many commenters think this sounds bland. I really like how varied the sounds in your beat at the end are, so that proves that this synth is actually quite capable of interesting timbres. I think the features like morphing and even oscillator mixes need a musical context to come alive. Now I also retrospectively understand why so many people liked the Wavestate so much when it came out: it is a synth where the patches are built in demos for its morphing capabilities . If you turn off nearly all wave sequences on that machine and then morph 2 parameters with a macro knob, you will probably get sounds that sound very bland too. By the way: this is also a tip on how to save thousands of euros if you don’t need real analog oscillators, because I think the morphing this synth does, can actually be simulated on a Wavestate.
@BoBeats4 жыл бұрын
tbh not many think it sounds bland :) not in my comment section anyway

I too love evolving complex textures and pads, unfortunately I've always found with only 6 voice poly you lose notes once adding sustain. Pitty Arturia didn't make it 12 voice or preferably 16 which alleviates that problem. Especially at it's $2,499 price tag.
@ozorg4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. The way I hear it, this synth is really good for pads and atmospheric sounds. And that's where the voices are missing. Unfortunately. It's also a pity that the so-called reviews are only nice versions of the manuals. Otherwise you would have to mention this fact and maybe criticize it. Otherwise the PolyBrute sounds mega good. Cheers!
@BoBeats4 жыл бұрын
Its not a review. Its more a first look and walkthrough. If its a review it says so and general has pro’s/con’s and alternatives. Can’t really say much on the voice count thing, if its a deal breaker or not. 16 voice analog poly at 2500 would also be hard I think.
