Big respect to arturia, for this update. The volca sample integration is nice.

Just a little remark regarding 00:50 : you actually need to hold the first and last step for 0.7 second to effectively tie the notes. This prevents from unintentionally tie notes when quickly enabling steps !

That last update took it from being a good sequencer/controller into being an actual real instrument that reacts like one, and has flexibility, good work folks. Am I insane to want polyphonic sequencing on the BSP though?
@wincekthomas3 жыл бұрын
They say they can't do it because it's not just midi, but also voltage control. I agree though, some sort of "midi only" mode where there can be polyphony would be really nice.

What about the ability to chromatically sequence Volca Sample channels, like the Retrokits RK-002?
@cameronleggett5 жыл бұрын
Of course the RetroKits RK-002 lets you put all the Volca samples triggers onto a single MIDI channel, opening up the possibility to connect more than 5 other MIDI devices while using the Volca Sample on a shared MIDI port. I'll never understand why Korg made such a mess of the Volca Sample MIDI implementation. 11 channels occupied and no possibility to change the basic MIDI receive channel. Prob'ly why most people use the Clock Sync ports when using a Volca Sample. Kudos to Arturia for allowing drum triggers to be on different channels for using multiple drum machines. Just wish that a computer wasn't required in order to assign drum triggers to the sequencing pads on the BeatStep Pro. (Check out the Groovesizer MB Golf Firmware for an interesting method to accomplish this using a 2 digit display. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4OVhKOAZ7uojcU )

@@cameronleggett have you heard about the Pagen firmware update beta? It enables you to map the notes chromatically with a controller, or to play it with pads with channel 11. It also has a lot of other features, and made the game totally different for me!
@cameronleggett4 жыл бұрын
@@jaydeepalmer yup now the RK-02 cable can be used as an arpeggiator or some other utility. Pajen's Unofficial Beta 7 is a game changer. Hopefully some generous soul will do the same for other Volcas. Though the Sample was the most in need.
@wincekthomas3 жыл бұрын
@@cameronleggett They ostensibly did it so that each channel is it's own sound with the same CC values for control (ie Sample Length is ALWAYS CC #41, no matter the sample, it's just on a different midi channel). Which I guess makes some logical sense, and probably made implementation easier, but I agree it's a pain for external sequencing.

To be honest this confused me at first as well! But you're only changing the midi channels in the Drum Map, IE only the Drum/Purple Lane of the beatstep will change. You can still use 2 other devices on Green and Yellow

Volca Sample only uses channels 1 to 10, so you don't need to set all 16 in the software. I think that is shown erroneously here. So your sequences are free to use MIDI channels 11 to 16.

Hi! Yes you can perfectly create this kind of set up be creating different MIDI tracks in your DAW that will record each MIDI message sent by your BeatStep Pro. You can also reach our support team with this link: www.arturia.com/support/askforhelp I’m sure they will be able to help you :) Best regards.

You do not need to be plugged into a computer unless you are changing settings using the MIDI control Center. Once done, you download this to the hardware unit and can unplug.

As you my or may not know the BPMs of the arturia machines are not the same a computer BPM ( ie : 139 on the BSP or the impact , becomes 139.1 on the Computer ) this becomes an issue when i want to finish my projects on the computer after . So I've tried to sync The Beatstep Pro to the computer via Midi clock and my Drum machines to the Clock out and my modular to the CV... But it Drum machines seem to Loose tracking ... any idea as to how I can fix this Issue ? as I like to be able to use My Modular and Drum machines and not have something as Basic as Tempo Sinc issues ...

This video has me confused/worried. I've just ordered a Beatstep Pro and am planning to use it to control/sequence my Volcas (Beats, Bass, Keys and possibly Sample too in the near future) via a 4way MIDI splitter. Does the KV sample need to use up all 16 MIDI channels? (I thought The KVS only used 10?). Has anybody made a tutorial specificalkly about hooking more than one Volca up to the Beatstep Pro? I'm guessing it's possible as I've seen/heard videos of people making music that way but none of them explain how to set it up. So to recap, I want to play/sequence Volca Beats, Bass, Keys and possibly Sample via the BS Pro and my old Oxygen8 keyboard. Is this doable? Any/all advice gratefully received as I'm a total newb when it comes to hardware sequencers (other than my current Novation Circuit).
@antavikta9197 жыл бұрын
indeed you need only 10 drumpads for volca. yes you can connect more volcas by sending clock pulse to them but you need to use their own sequencers if run out of midi channels

I'm in the same boat. I have Volca Sample, Volca Bass, Volca Keys, Korg Monologue, Roland JX-03, Roland JP-08. I haven't completed the set up yet, but I'm thinking the Volca Sample will use Midi 1-10, I will change midi channels so Volca Bass will be on channel 11, Volca Keys on channel 12. I will use the built-in sequencers on the Monologue and Rolands, but will change their Midi channels to 13, 14 and 15 respectively. To change Midi channels on the Volca Keys and Bass, hold Memory, power on, then press desired key for channel number (1-16).
