In my humble opinion, pushing gain into a movable ceiling is a rather awkward way to balance your final gain vs peaks. The fixed ceiling + output knob that Pro-L has is the finest I've ever seen this implemented. To each their own of course. I love the implementation of a clipper and frequency shaping, which can help shape the sound considerably (ala TDR Limiter 6). But I'm sorry to say that to make this plugin competitive it needs to be drastically optimized. At this time I've used it both in mixing and mastering sessions (where the rest of the plugin load is considerably less) and it has caused playback to either glitch or stop altogether, and my PC is way above average in terms of processing power... Hope for an update because I'd love to use this more!

4 months later, you still much prefer pro-L 2 compared to this?

This one need quite some tweaking to make me switch from my current clipper/limiter combo

Hmmm...I like the sound better when the limiter is bypassed. I did buy the Bus PEAK though...LoL

Why would someone use completely distorted audio material that is full of resonances as an input to demonstrate the quality / clarity of a clipper / limiter? I actually use Bus Peak and it is pretty transparent and usefull in what it does, but i am still figuring it out 🙂...maybe we could have another tutorial by a mixengineer / real life use case?
