I see, tempting, for Arturia customers it is now on offer for 99 Euro, in stead of 499. But I'm not looking forward to explore 34 effects and their multitude of presets, interfaces and capabilities. I need more lifetimes. Thanks for reminding me that I have Efx Refract. Can't remember if I bought that or it was a freebie.

Great review. I started with FXC3, upgraded to FXC4. I've used them quite a bit. Their creative FXs never really worked out for me, however. I never could get the granular effect to sound very musical for example. May be it's me and not the plugin, but I've found other plugins that work much better for ambient sounds. Also, the incremental difference between FX4 and FX5 just isn't worth the cost, even at a heavy discount. I do like Arturia plugins (I have V Colelction also), I look forward to FXC 6.

Arturia's pricing is bonkers 🫢 I'm still on V Collection 8 because the upgrades to 9 and 10 were really bad value - taking significant advantage of existing customers I think. you could upgrade from V 6 to 10 for the same amount which makes no sense...

@@IanWaugh ​ Right now it's Other Desert Cities by Audio Damage for me. It 's a delay that does granular, but it's a *whole* lot more. Also, it has LFO's and env follower that can modulate any parameter. So it does slow moving with ease, but it also does odd random things that still sounds musical. I bought ODC on sale for about the same price as my FX4->FX5 upgrade price. ODC was a lot more value, I think. I definitely agree on Arturia upgrade pricing. I have VC9 and upgrading to VCX just isn't worth the price. I understand they have a business to keep up, but still. I'm interested in buying an Arturia hardware synth someday though, and I'm hoping VC11 is worth upgrading to when it comes out.

Like you, Ian, I am more interested in creative effects than the "bread and butter" mix/master plugins, which I have plenty of, including a dozen bundled with my Arturia AudioFuse audio interface. I love Arturia's V collection of soft synths, but the FX collection doesn't tempt me. However, I always say yes to any free FX creative plugins from them, as I already have the Arturia Software Center software, and installation is a breeze. So far, these include Efx Refract, Filter MS-20, and Tape Mello-Fi.

Yes, Arturia's upgrade prices are bonkers - you need to make sure you really want the new additions and they are good value 🤔

Hi - that's a very good question 🤔 I still haven't fully explored them 🫢 but, as mentioned, a graphical interface makes a lot more sense. I try some of the hardware simulations and some do have useful presets for some projects but if I need to tweak I go for something graphical. So in my case, alas, not using them to their full 😢

Yeah, we are bombarded with so much stuff these days including free FX, as I said I tend to stick with ones I know and which have a graphic interface. So still haven't tried all these... 😢
