I sang the stillen nacht when i was cleaning one hall, then i heard same song but in english it was our exchange student. We sang that day and when we went to christmas break i said:" ove nochten" and he respondet with:" merry Chrismas". We are still friend.

Your emotion is excellent. This whole scene showed the futility of World War 1. It was a war for empire, not for freedom or anything similar. WW2 had a reason, WW1 didn't.
