If you don't mind me asking, if AP-655-US is for US then what's AP-655-RW? And, does the AP support stand-alone mode without requiring a controller? Thanks in advance.

RW stands for the rest of the world and that's the part number we use in Australia. Some countries like US, Japan, Israel etc have very strict regulations when it comes to their wireless regularity domain so APs sold in those countries are hardcoded to the local domain and cannot be changed. Rest of the world allow the user to specify the country regulatory domain during the initial AP setup.

All Aruba 500 and 600 series APs are called Unified APs and support standalone/instant as well as cloud and controller operation out of the box. For example if AP can't discover a controller on your network and it's not registered in Aruba Central (cloud) it will simply boot up in Aruba Instant mode and you can set it up locally.
