Aruba Instant On AP11D Setup Un Box & Install - Regin Locked AP.

In this video I do a full unboxing & install & setup. The main point it so show you that you can't buy an AP from USA and use it in Canada. YOU need to buy the ap for the country you plan on using it in.

Many brands of access points face the same problem; 1. For US, Japan and Israel markets, the APs are "locked" to that one regulatory domain, and they APs can't be (or should not be) used outside that country. (i.e. AP11D-US for US only) 2. For anyway else, they make a "Rest of World" (RW) version that can work anywhere and you can select the correct regulatory domain for where you're at. (i.e. AP11D-RW for rest of world). This is something you need to verify before you make your purchase..

Blame the US, Egypt, Israel etc since they are particularly restrictive on their regulations. Rest of the world can purchase RW models, factory reset and change regulatory country. The PT port is the input, it will take Poe+ in to provide Poe out on the red port. It is called pt since it is looped to the back… but you got this.

I wonder if you can flash a different regions ROM onto it somehow then it could work or use a VPN so it thinks it's in the U.S.🤔

Waste of time, you'll need the VPN up everytime it needs to update or make changes.

Yes and specially when you want use different vlan for the ports on the 11d than the management network of the 11d

@@ryderhook7068 in the Cloud just select the networks you want to add to that port. If you have vlans, you need to create network per vlan. IE Guest Vlan 10 Camera Vlan 22 etc etc When you create them in the network just select vlan id.

Only 3 Countries on the planet demand country-specific APs that are locked to their Regulatory Domain (Wireless broadcast rules). That would include the US, Japan and Israel... They have very strict wireless requirements that allow ONLY their channels/max power specifications to be used in their country. This applies to ALL manufacturers.. Do these country-specific APs work outside their country ? Nope.... Instead, you need to purchase the RW (Rest of World) or WW (World-wide) versions of the AP, that will work anywhere outside of the US, Japan and Israel..

@@EthanAbroad yes it will work, you'll need to not disconnect it from your USA profile though. You can make changes too, just not add. Are you taking it there temporarily?

Yes temporarily, but I don't have access to the software in the video because the Aruba was provided with a laptop to use for my company
