Update on blue gmc needing trans that everyone keeps asking about: it’s coming soon. I need some time to recover from back injury before I can do hard labor like a trans install though. Stay patient! Also: no vermont vehicles over 15 years don’t need a title for everyone asking.

@@TheRealWormsGarage Vermont does not require title on any car over 15 years old. furthermore anyone can register a car in Vermont via the mail. you dont need to live in Vermont or even have a valid drivers license. Vermont just wants you reg fee money and they dont give a crap. this is a way that people in other states can get titles for cars via a Vermont registration. it is called the "Vermont title loophole" and there are many video on how to do it.

A guy I used to work with would go to auctions at our cities impound lot. He would get there early and he had the same paint pens as the impound lot used and he would write stuff on the vehicles like "Bad Tranny", "No Title", "Blown Head Gasket". He said it worked most of the time, scaring people away from bidding on the cars. The guy was quite a character.

A tip to keep in mind for the next time! The key turned to the on position with the engine off will test the check engine light, to make sure the bulb is functioning(it's standard on all vehicles). That is of course if the codes hadn't been cleared or the battery disconnected/discharged. And/or a small scan tool can be a very helpful thing to have assuming the same circumstance, they can give a general idea what to expect when buying the vehicle.

You did great on that Volvo. Change out the pump and go through it thoroughly and it will last a long time. I have a 99 Volvo S70 with only 70k on her and she’s just getting broken in. Started driving it again because the trans started slipping on my 02 Trailblazer. Shouldn’t be upset because it’s got 238k on it, but I am 😢. When you get attached to something that runs great and never had any major problems you drive the hell out of it, right!!! Don’t know what I’m going to fix it or not, want another project 🤣. The Volvo is great but being older the parts are harder to get and more expensive. Whoever your selling it to will get their money’s worth out of it for sure. The 2500 being a diesel, well you know, will last you forever as long as you take care of it, which you already know that. Good buys sir!!! 👍🏻😁

Different here in UK, there are different types of vehicles for sale at our auctions, they are as follows 1, Direct from finance (repossessed by bank), all they want is the rest of their money they're due 2, Direct from dealer, a trade in from a main dealer and they just want to get rid of it to get more space 3, Public entry...... someone wants to sell their car quickly But there are certain phrases you MUST listen for, Under warranty, you buy it and get 1 hour to check it's roadworthy Manufacturer warranty, guaranteed for at least one year No major defects, engine ok, suspension ok....... bodywork may be crap Category A B C D, insurance write off and repaired (stay clear of these if you're not a garage) Sold as Seen, if it blows up when you start the engine, tough sh*t I've bought a couple of decent cars at auctions, but I've also seen many broken down cars littering the vicinity.......... so a word of warning, auctions can be good if you know what you're doing, if you're not sure - - - avoid them, and this goes for any country

That generation Volvo you have to shop carefully. I have one as a daily with 212k on it. They can be a long life vehicle if the fluids are changed, the timing belt service is done, and it's never allowed to overheat. In other words, they can have expensive problems if they were owned by a typical Toyota/Hyundai driver. However, you take care of it, you are looking at 500k+ Because of that, bargains are to be had due to their relative unpopularity.

The Routan should be an easy and profitable sell. The Ford F-350 has plenty of 'Vermont Patina', needs some body and interior work but if get lucky at the local junkyard you could make it better. Maybe for the Volvo if go to the junkyard for the p.s. pump, they might have a decent drivers door in the right color. As to titles, NY State didn't require titles until 1966. In about 1976 I bought a beater 1965 Chevy Impala from a friend who had a dealers license who got it from an auction in NY State, only had to have the NYS registration card to transfer ownership to me in New Jersey. Many who have travel trailers and live in NY, NJ, register them in VT as cheaper for registration.

The slide doors never ever broke and still works. My dad's Routan stands at 225,000 miles today and still runs fine. They are very reliable and the only things we've done to it was oil changes every 3-5k miles and some new springs and alternator and bulbs. Obviously regular break changes and rotors.
