I'm new to stock trading but what i realized with what you called a "gap" or "halt" This happens when the stock makes a drastic change up or down by 10% in a short time, they stop any buy orders and sell orders. So to avoid your orders being halted and being screwed. I set a trailing stop at 10% or less on pump and dump because if what ever reason the stock drops quickly, your order gets filled before there's a "gap" or gets "halted"

This covered everything I wanted to know. Spot on. As a visual learner, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you!!! Now the hardest part is figuring out that trigger delta percentage or dollar amount for each trade...
@walfordiii4 жыл бұрын
Precisely. Say for instance you were to protect your gains of 100%+ what would be a good trigger Delta percentage for such a trade?
@timmoore60553 жыл бұрын
@@walfordiii Dome people will use what is called the Average True Range, or ATR; the most common is a 14 day ATR. If you poke around you can probably find the math to use to set up a spread sheet; but easier is to use a charting program; TC 200 or STock Charts both will have it (you may need to do some setup). even with that information, it is up to you to decide how much of that you wish to use. for example, the ATR may be $2.27, to pick a number. That would be fairly tight stop, as in the last 14 days the stock averaged that much move. Or you might want to do some multiple of the ATR; 2x or maybe 2.4x . One ETF I trade had some large down moves; after taking the ATR I fgound tht the largest down move in a day was 2.4x. Hope that helps.

Arvabelle you are a natural born teacher, your content is clear and concise, you have plenty of common sense and it shows in your teachings, you know what it means when you Assume, that’s what the others here on KZbin do, they Assume you know what the heck there talking about , when you don’t because your new and they have ten years of trading under there belt. So you feel like a idiot because you watched a 30 minute video and got nothing from it. From one teacher to another you get it and you got it. I watched your 4 Basic types, & now the Trailing Stop videos. An Excellent training video explained extremely well. Silly, but I now have a nice deck of varying Order Type flashcards in my desk drawer. Use it to help me decide what type of order I want depending on the stocks scenario. e.g. - I have faith in a $10 stock & anticipate its rise... I may place a Stop Loss (Buy) order @ $15. If it trends up 5 bucks the order fulfills, & the game begins. Thanks Arvabelle, the best video explanations I have found yet! Recommended.

Thank you Arvabelle for such a clear description of the Trailing Stop Order. As a relative newbie I am a little confused over some of the terminologies. For instance, 1. Is a 'Trail Limit order' the same as a 'Trailing Stop Limit Order'? 2. What is the difference between a 'Stop Order' and a 'Stop Limit Order'? 3. When I want to do a 'Buy' order using Trailing method, how do I set the 'Limit Price', and the 'Stop Price'? A lot of questions, I know, so I'm hoping you will be able to provide the 'AHA!' moment for me. 😊
