not only is it so fucking tight but the production on it is just perfection. I've played this for people at work who like metal but not so much the extreme stuff like I do...one of their first comments on this album was on the drums. Irreplaceably incredible.
@Luckypants2113
@Luckypants2113 Жыл бұрын
The drumming on this album really is something else. Deathcore drumming is so often just blast beating, which is fine. It makes sense considering how extreme the genre is, but it doesn’t leave much room for a drummer to “groove”. The drumming on this album manages to be incredibly fast and high energy, while also managing to be catchy and interesting. I’m not a musician by any means, but to me, drummers typically will find a rhythm and more or less stay with it. There might be tempo changes here or there, but it’s mostly played like the rhythm instrument that it is. This drummer seems like he’s never playing the same thing for more then 10 seconds and yet it doesn’t sound chaotic. It always flows with the song perfectly. I think is has to do with the way he uses the snare especially. He’s able to have so much variety with just the kick drum and snare, let alone a whole kit.

I LOVE ALL WHO LOVE abrb! This band, their first tracks and this album, were the key to my consciousness, talents, drive, passion & spirit. Every riff, every note, every improv, just.. Absolutely amazing. Very few bands are in my top 10 but abrb isn't even in the list cause they are GODS compared to the rest. I found them at a depressing and fucked up period of my early teens, not only did they play crucially exactly the same or similar style guitar and drums as myself, they kept going no matter how much they went unnoticed, as do I still. I have wasted the last 8 of 28 years of my life thinking my efforts and music would get me somewhere but everything you could imagine that could stop me, has. I'm still struggling, starving, for a long story short, everyone around me my whole life has discouraged me and robbed me or screwed me over for being a nice guy with a heavy dream.. But I now have taken the time to hone and perfect both metal & hip hop and am about to blow up. There will be a tribute album very soon to all the bands who helped me even if they are the opposite of my beliefs. Abrb will have 3 tributes, intro, intermission and ending. All songs are 100% original and derived from 16 years of doing what I wanted with a guitar instead of following boundaries and theory. Bless you all. My current band name is Threads Of Fate (the serpentess I easily searchable) however all material is very old, home recorded and some instruments were recorded on separate dates and qualities. However, the Deities blessings ensure that you, the true M heads, get what you deserve. Amitabha

I barely can believe that 15 years have already passed since i listened to it the first time, and it's still a daily listener to me. This album completely revolutionized deathcore by mixing in elements from the metalcore at the time and basically making it way more fuckin heavy they literally invented the modern deathcore sound. So many deathcore bands nowadays would have never sounded like the way they do without As Blood Runs Black.

I wish they would have continued playing like this. If more metalcore bands actually played riffs, people such as myself would enjoy metalcore bands and not separate them from the metal community.

The composers of the riffs were never in the band to begin with. By the time we were exposed to the "original line up" the guitarists were long gone.

Fun fact: literally any musical phrase played on a guitar is a guitar riff. There is no arbitrary threshold of complexity beneath which it stops counting as a 'riff'. You can literally play nothing but open string chugs, it's still a fucking riff.

MFM That's pretty much the case with most metalcore bands like early avenged sevenfold, trivium, As I lay dying etc. These guys are considered Deathcore though even though they sound nothing like suicide silence who take influence from Suffocation. By the way At The Gates kinda already have breakdowns, just not the typical E chug breakdowns.
