He is showing the progression of Grime, starting with Garage house which peeps would MC along to the DJ, then into Basement where the beats use Garage and Reggae and Breakbeat mixed into tracks designed for MCs to accompany then goes into Grime which is when the MCs actually recorded the tracks with written verses. You can see how it did not develop from Hip Hop at all as they was trying to develop a UK urban style of Thier own. Tho the MCs often were fans of hip hop.

as a UK head that grew up and loved this Grime era so much, I love seeing you boys react to this stuff.... I get to relive it. Keep it up. On a separate note... Durrty Goodz (used to Durrty Doogz before the name switch) used to be in "Boyz in the hood" Grime crew with his bro Crazy Titch who unfortunately got sent to prison 2005.... 2 things that you boys would be interested on with this.... 1. It starts off with garage then goes into grime, then jungle The first song is a UK garage classic - Monsta boy ft denzie - sorry, released on Locked On records, The second drop is Sticky - Triplets released on Social Circles, the third is so solid crew - oh no (sentimental things), next is more fire crew - oi, then it’s wookie (exemen) can’t remember the title, then Sticky ft tubby t - tales from the hood (Social circles), then sticky - Hype hype, Wiley - what you call it?, dizzee rascal - I luv u, DJ wonder - What, Sticky - Pac-Man, lethal b - pow (forward Riddim), can’t remember the name of this one but I know it 😡, wifey riddim, then goes into old skool jungle 😊 And of course I’ve got most of them on vinyl 😂 Man I’m such a Garage and grime nerd 😂

The beats are OLD SCHOOL “garage” beats/tunes and his spitting over the beats. If you research “garage” it’s a completely different genre of music but is still very much alive even though it finished easy 15 years ago, in the UK we have a whole festival for it called “garage nation”. But the Beats change to grime beats. Honestly if you dig deep and done research you’d really understand a lot more. And the last beat was “jungle” which drum and bass was born from!
