Jam Baxter - The Stump is one of the illest things i have heard coming from the UK. Jam is super dope

Jam Baxter is a crazy lyricist he is a very surreal writer, he is like a Picasso of bars but he flows smooth. He is one half of Dead Players with Dabbla the other half.

SOOO GASSED you're exploring Jam! He's personally my favourite rapper (Ghetts is second) His subject matter is often bleak, gruesome and gritty, but his cadence flow and extensive vocabulary manage to paint mad visuals with words. A great artist.

Same, his descriptive language and imagery are unbeatable with intelligent lyricism, it's unreal. Definitely my favourite too, the whole High Focus label is so reliable. Love it all 👌

Been into UK rap since the 90s. Jam Baxter is my fave at the moment. Also on the "backpack" side of the scene: Cult of the damned, Lee Scott, Black Josh, Jehst (veteran!), Foreign Beggars, Ed Scizzor, Dirty Dyke. Jam Baxter tracks: Salsa Valentina, Red Hawaiians, Dumb, Mask, All Clear. With Dead Players: Cherry Turbo, Cooked.
@arise211 ай бұрын
Why not try Cult of the Damned - Offie on for a taste of some grimey flavoured bars and into to Blah Records. And Lee Scott - Don't Tell Me for an introduction to his dope bars. Id look deeper into Lunar C's stuff for bars as well (Skwolla, Bumpin, Shabang/shallow) . Oh, and Ed Scissor - Coma is a good video introduction to the lyrical wizardry of High Focus Records. Ed Scissor - Theremin is how you paint pictures with language. Dirty Dyke - Whoops is how the uk flows in ways only the Uk do.

Sorry it's a bit late, but you asked about Halloween and I'm not sure anyone answered in the comments. Halloween developed from British traditions but we don't celebrate quite the same way. When Christianity arrived on our Isles it took many of our festivals and turned them into Christian feasts - the Irish 'Samhain' and Welsh/Brythonic 'Noson Calan Gaeaf' became "All Hallow's Eve". The word "Halloween" is actually the Scottish abbreviatied way of saying "Hallow's Eve". We never had pumpkins, we would carve Turnips ... which was MUCH harder to do by the way ... but when the pilgrims went to the New World and could not find turnips they discovered pumpkins, which were both larger and way easier to carve. You guys "Americanised" it and because we Brits love any excuse to make ourselves look silly, it has caught on a bit here but it's no way as big as in the US. Over here it is really more for the kids only and even then it isn't as big a deal as in the US. We do, however, treat it as a night for the supernatural and certain communities engage in some of the folklore and tradition attached to the night, but generally we just watch ghost stories on the telly these days, which is a little sad. At least the students go get drunk in fancy dress (costumes).

on an extra note (just because on the second watch i'm not sure if you put it together or not) but you've actually reacted to jam baxter before because he's 1 3rd of Dead Players. He's been in other collective colabs like contact play but dead players is the most recent as far as i know. He did a lot of duo stuff with Ed Scissortongue too which was also worth exploring. get ready for heavy metaphors and picasso style imagery

Jam Baxter is sort of too good for his own good. The level of effort he puts into each sentence is too much for most people digest after 10 listens, let alone one. He sort of suffers from being a bit too...idk. hes writing art, not rap. He's talented to a degree thats overwhelming and so special that i just think its not possible for him to get appropriate recognition on a grand scale, and thats too bad. This person could've done anything artistically and been top 3, he just happened to choose rap.
