Idk if Destiny 3 will take the game series all the way to 10 years, but both Destiny 1 and 2 are pretty active, especially after the failures of games like No Man's Sky, Anthem, Fallout 76, and whatever else has been released and immediately forgotten. I suspect that DA4 is re positioned to be a total live service game precisely because Anthem failed. I get the feeling that EA's internal studio mandate is that each studio needs to have a certain amount financial success in live service games (like a quota) before allowed to diverting EA resources to anything else which explains why they uncharacteristically allowed Respawn's Jedi Fallen Order to go ahead due to the success of their Apex Legends. Therefore, my guess is that EA initially green lighted Bioware's small scale high content density and high replay value not Live Service DA4 on the presumption that Anthem will be a smash hit and take care of Bioware's "Live Service Quota." But now that EA had discovered that the Bioware "leadership" have been screwing around for 6 years on Anthem and the game is setting up to be a major financial disaster, they revoked a lot of Bioware's privileges and that include the Single-Player direction of DA4.

@Mark Gamble I fully agree. I actually liked andromeda, to some extent. A lot of it feels half baked but there still feels like there was so much potential if they hadnt just shoved it out the door. The story is kind of a copy and paste of the trilogy, there couldve been a lot more to it. but i actually liked the characters and the general vibe. Jaal and Peebee were actually pretty neat characters. They felt somewhat dynamic, couldve been so much better. The game itself is gorgeous and the gameplay is not terrible. I play it in 4k and every moment is total eye candy. Such a shame they left it incomplete. if they actually push through with anthem ill be pretty irked bc andromeda deserved it way more. I havent purchased any live service games bc i havent seen a good story or characters in one yet. just not worth it for me. I hate the cash grab mentality. it completely disgusts me and they arent fooling anyone anymore. they have totally directed their efforts towards an audience of complete uneducated consumers and children, which is really pathetic and sick. Some of the writing was awful, the villains, the characters, your motivations... it's all pretty bad. A few years ago I wouldn't have thought it possible but... if you want a single player game with lots of content, interesting characters and choices that matter... look to ubisoft. Assassin's creed odyssey has all of that.

I was very impressed and the ending stayed with me for a long time after. I thought some of the sidequests were actually really interesting. Like finding a small town where people worship you or a sidequest which is based loosely on the story of oedipus. Personally I think black flag had a great story but I didn't enjoy any of the desmond stuff or most of the storylines told in the past.

I think as a community we need to stop buying these games that are laced with micro transactions/ games in general the quality is rapidly declining. I know the consistent argument with most people is they don’t care about the grind, but they’re increasing the grind to influence you to buy their extra cheap gimmicks and add ons. The process repeats over and over...and either they don't see it or don't care. Andromeda flopped, so the devs went over to the Anthem team. Now Anthem flopped and the devs go to the dragon age team. They should support their games and fix them instead of carrying on and go straight to the next project. I've given up hope... It's sad to see that another studio is spiraling downwards. Boo ware was once a great studio. They stood for quality. Pro-Tip: If a game is a "live service," hard pass. The good ones are too far and few between for me to ever want to touch one of those again. "The Division 2" is the exception which proves the rule.
