@MazzeLeo Pedri already has his own marker. Making that space for pedri would have meant nothing, he has his own guy on top of him, by the time a ball travels to him from that range, he's already overwhelmed. Besides, you don't run up to your keeper (acting like you are) providing yourself as an outlet, then fake out at *any time* for exactly this reason, you'd fool your own keeper right in front of goal. Mina being behind him is irrelevant as long as Garcia doesn't stop or try to control the ball, just keep the run toward the ball, one tap the ball wide to the free man, Cubarsi in this case, done. This is a basic routine they teach you at ball playing schools like Barca's. You identify the free man, and if you don't have a direct line to him, the DM (or whichever MF nearest) will come running to offer themselves as a solution for the ball to "bounce/ricochet" off of, no control, just hasten to the ball coming at you and 1 touch pass it to the free man/zone. Nothing the guy can do about that, they'd be a step behind, and even if they catch up, they can't tackle through you or it'd be a foul. It's a very simple routine which Frenkie has done, Pedri, Busquets, even the kids Casado, Bernal, all of them understand. . But this genius Eric Garcia ran backwards to Ter Stegen to trigger that pass, suddenly changes his mind half way though and sidesteps at the same moment the pass is made.

There are still a couple of players in the Starting XI that are not worthy of a Top10 European club (aka, candidates to win the UCL): García, Martínez, and I think Stegen is past his prime. That said, the season has just started, Flick knows what he's doing, and the raw young talent (not overhyped, but factual, like Cubarsi, Pedri, and Yamal) is there. And btw, AS Monaco is one of the secret weapons of this UCL. Won't be surprised if they reach the QF at least.
