He also said, that, "Everything can be accomplished from Washington State." He's a hypocrite. People think that because he beat UW that he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. He lost 7 of his last 8 games last season! Then, he lost the last three games this season against terrible teams, including an embarrassing home lost to Wyoming. He talks about "loyalty", SMH

I fear that eventually schools are going to end up losing football programs because of the current state of college football. Everything seems like a lose lose situation. You get a winning season, you lose everyone to the highest bidder, you have a losing season, you lose everyone to the highest bidder.
@seanvanessajanssen64193 күн бұрын
It’s a selfish and hypocritical move but I partially understand it. It’s a life preserver thrown from a sinking ship. Nobody better even talk about loyalty anymore. We all know it’s a lie. Everybody who’s anybody is in it for themselves now and it’s just the nature of the game. Unpopular opinion and probably a hot take as I’m burning with anger at this stage but maybe Big Sky football really would be more fun at this point. More stability, only a handful of players will probably transfer each year after showing they are good enough to play FBS. You get to compete for national championships and have a built-in rivalry right next door. It won’t happen but I wouldn’t be sad at all if we shifted course in that direction at this point. I’m not having fun anymore and I want off this ride.

So let me get this straight: 1. You work at a place for 5 years and it final culminates in a pretty good year 2. Everyone you accomplished this with take big pay and opportunity increases to go elsewhere 3. You now have to start from square one and your performance in this rebuilding year(s) WILL be held against you at this AND future jobs 3. A good opportunity paying DOUBLE presents itself that will give you a couple years to rebuild You're telling me you DONT take that job because you're 'loyal' to the couple guys that weren't good enough to get offers to go elsewhere?

With the assumption that more players will enter the portal. I'd go and get Tim Polasek (1A) or Brent Vigen. The more players the enter will make it an easier time to shift the offensive culture from a pass dominant offense to a more balanced one. Each have their pros and cons but for me Polasek would be the choice because of his ability to develop the offensive line which will be the key.

All his talk of loyalty is certainly rich now coming from him. Unfortunately as I see it WSU is gonna have one of the biggest drop offs in college football that we might see. Hopefully we can hire a good looking coach and try to get some transfers from FCS schools and see if we can move decently forward. The bowl game is basically impossible now so we’ll need to back out. I think people aren’t seeing the bigger picture. There was a headline earlier this year saying WSU just raised tuition amid declining enrollment. The school has a lot to figure out. If enrollment and the school aren’t headed in the right direction, you won’t be able to recruit players or coaches to Pullman and get them to stay. This is beyond just the football team and if it isn’t addressed, this will keep sliding downhill and WSU will be at the bottom of the new PAC conference when the other schools join

There’s a difference between working at a gas station and an oil company. If I walked into a gas station and offered to double the employees pay and benefits while increasing their opportunities for future advancement I could leave with whoever I wanted. There are head hunter and recruiters in STEM industries and Agents in Sports. Business optimization via talent acquisition, simple supply and demand. Life has become a Reality Show sponsored by the highest bidder. Lawyers win again…. (Most agents are Attorneys) When it comes to the current state of NCAA Sports, at least the players have a seat at the table and a spot at the trough. It will eventually get cleaned up and “Amateur Sports” will no longer exist. The only question is whether High School Sports are next…..?

You're reacting emotionally. Head coaches get recruited from where they've had success all the time and Wazzu has been the proving ground for countless parents and coaches over the years. We should be proud to have our "kids" leave the nest and make something great of themselves. This opens up a great opportunity to have another young coach do the same thing like Jake has just done and coach Riley is on the path to doing as well. School is a bus stop for players and coaches while we just happen to be alumni the rest of our lives. We're like foster parents who get to help them along their way.

I hate this. I really believed Dickert and thought he was going to be our leader through an already dark period. We all bought the "loyalty" shtick hook, line, and sinker. The one thing that Dickert did well was to understand WSU's role in the college football landscape. We aren't a perennial powerhouse. We aren't signing top 25 recruiting classes and we have to find gems and develop them. Mike price did it, and so did Leach. I've been a diehard coug for 35 years and hate the direction that college football is headed. Unfortunately, our innocence and loyalty as a fan base is going to be our demise. This business of amateur sports has become more corrupt than the professional counterpart and we can't compete for a litany of reasons. Replacing Dickert and his culture will be hard. Brent Vigen makes the most sense but he'll jump ship once his teams find success. Thats the unfortunate nature of the new era of college football. I don't have any answers or solutions, so I guess I'm just bitching. We already miss the college football that we watched die and we cheered as they kept putting bullets after bullet in it. I'll always be a coug and love the sport, but something about all of it just seems so slimy and unfamiliar now.

Dickert is a snake. As an alum of Wazzu I am beyond furious and honestly I think the leadership we have in place with the Board of Regents and President Schultz are a big reason why Dickert left, we can't be cutting funding to the athletic department when we are behind the 8 ball in conference realignment. I know Schultz is leaving but maybe we can him early and get rid of everyone on the board of regents, they all suck anyway.

What the university represents immediately removes 99% of our potential fan base. Our fan base is mostly alumni spread out over the four corners. Athletes don't want to play in an empty stadium with little excitement from the few fans who are there. The potential fanbase has a hard time getting excited about what the university represents. Pullman apartmentland is a slum. Tough to get excited about living there as a player. Wsu has long held the identity of a party school and as the school tries to reshape its identity people realize that pullman has nothing to offer socially or economically. The school is shrinking and the football program is in shambles. It will continue to get worse until washington swings red which will never happen. Good move coach.
@leifrausch95173 күн бұрын
Why tf would Washington swinging red help ANYTHING😂
@joshuaweaver50693 күн бұрын
@leifrausch9517 Most of wsu's potential fanbase are conservatives. The only blue county in all of Eastern Washington and North Idaho is Whitman County. We don't accurately represent the values of our respective region and we therefore do not have the support that we have enjoyed in decades past. We pushed away Mike Leach because he was a Trump supporter. We will become an fcs school very quickly.
@marjorieanderson86263 күн бұрын
I am an OU fan... But I'll never forget the first time I ever made it to Pullman...my thought was why? Why in the world would the powers that be decide to put one of the major state universities here? Especially given the other options in the state of Washington. It is like if Oregon State were located in Ontario... or Colorado State were in Lamar. In Oklahoma... it would be like if we put Oklahoma State in Guymon. And the remoteness has nothing to do with politics.
