Usual transfer window from a position of strength, with some positions needing strengthened. Don't worry we made a profit again & the balance sheet will be assigned a squad number. Great question with regard to Lawell & his presence flying to London. They may have been going on a jolly hitting the night spots ? Doesn't look good or anything like taking a back seat in any shape or form.
@lf67hh2813 минут бұрын
Given Rodgers said that Idah is Celtics first choice striker, why would any other striker of quality sign on mid-season? We got in the positions we badly needed, good window. As for Lawwell, he isn't an Executive at Celtic - which means he isn't involved in transfers. Simple fans need to let this idea go, Celtic exist in their current form (of HUGE success) thanks to Peter Lawwell.

I would agree, business should have been done before kyogo left On the other side of the coin though, we’ve had many a moan about paying over the odds for Idah and Engels, would you seriously pay £14mill for kvistgaarden?!?

26:20 I heard on one of the other podcasts that they were away to London for some sort of award apparently and it was nothing to do with transfers! Don’t know if there is any truth in it but you would hope that on deadline day and with still needing a striker then it should have been all men on deck.

Bottom line is that IF we’ve everybody fit, available and in form, we have a very decent front 3 from between Kuhn, Idah, Maeda & Jota, BUT, any of those get injured or suspended, then we are seriously weakened with Bayern on the horizon, because we have nobody else (other than Kenny) to come off the bench & make an impact.

I am glad that we didnt buy overpriced players with little prospects of a permanent place in the team - or resale value. It is much preferable that we take a longer term strategic approach to recruitment. We need a striker. We didnt have enough time or opportunity to organise it last summer - and we werent going to pay over the odds for a player who doesnt fit the bill. I would start to get upset if there was no striker signed in the summer. We need time to identify and speak to the people that could do the job we expect from a young and mobile striker than we can improve, enjoy and sell on for good money. Fans want solutions NOW. Then they greet when the overpriced interim player isnt good enough and were a waste of money. Grow up. We have enough to do well in the league and win another cup. We were never contenders for the later stages of the UCL. Ambition is good, but reality has its own way with 'ambition'. Jota for Kyogo was an absolute steal by us. We have Plenty ammo up front without Kyogo - lovely player that he was for us. I wish some Celtic supporters would grow up. We have a recruitment and sell-on system that has kept us as a great team And made us money. We need to be patient and trust the process.

We are a funny fan base. We moan constantly about not giving youngters a chance, no wonder players like Cummings want to leave Lets be honest we are in a great place in the league, we are going out in europe so if we cant give Kenny a chance to see what he can do when do youngsters get a chance? Jota is still miles away from being fully fit, so Maeda will be on the left then shift to the middle when Jota comes on. And Kenny should be given games to see where he is at

On paper, Schlupp is indeed still a good multidirectional player by Scottish Football standards and will add much needed direct running, pace and power to our game. However, a critical component of signing someone in this window is to ensure they are close to match ready in order to hit the ground running. His last full 90 minutes appearance was in Sept 2023. He hasn’t been on a pitch beyond the 17 min mark since last April. He is also not a natural LB and hasn’t played said position more than THREE occasions over the past 4 seasons. It’s actually the position he’s played the very least out of all 5 positions he’s played in. You have to go way back to season 2016/17 to find any regular pattern of him playing LB for Leicester. Considering he’s been brought in to compete/serve as back-up to Taylor (a natural LCM that can’t defend to save himself), we literally have no natural LB in the first team apart from Adam Montgomery - who is technically a B alongside Mitchel Frame. How did we go from having the great fortune of having an excellent Barca LB on loan till the end of season, to him being recalled thanks to Rodgers not playing him, to now replacing him with a 32 year old midfielder that hasn’t kicked a ball for nearly 2 seasons?? Someone please make it make sense! 🤦🏻♀️ P.S. Jota is hardly match fit, but a genius like him can get away with it, others can’t!

I’m beginning to suspect nobody has the first idea what goes on at the club, what might and might not be coming in, the progress and processes around all of that. Fans just guess then have discussions as though that guess is not only relevant , but on the money. Naebody has any knowledge. Naebody. But because their guesses didn’t come to pass, they get angry. It’s a bit child-like. I’m happy that the club don’t pay epl fees for players coming to the spl. If the club did the kind of things you hear demanded on channels like this we’d be sevco. We didn’t get a striker….and fans assume that’s 100% Celtics fault. The fans who think our club is anomalous in selling its star striker are losing their mind we didn’t get another clubs star striker. And they don’t even acknowledge the contradiction in that or how ridiculous they come across. Should we have paid £15m for Kvit? Seriously? And are we just assuming we didn’t offer them what they wanted but the player wasn’t interested. Where is the ceiling for fans? £15m for a striker. Then what? £10m for a winger and £10m for a LB? To achieve what? You think that’s enough to take us to a new level in the CL? Really? More logic. Less feels. “We had a chance to establish a level of dominance, winning the title every year, and we haven’t done that” Yer man there actually said that. Out of his mouth. And that’s fkng insane.

The club categorically knew our best striker, Kyogo, wanted to leave in the Summer. His sudden change in agent last May told them that, over and above anything else that we supporters weren’t privy too. If it’s not the board and manager’s responsibility to source an adequate replacement in what has been an 8 month period now, then who’s is it? They are the primary decision-makers and are directly accountable for the club's strategy, direction and success - that remit very much includes the responsibility to make Celtic as lucrative as possible in order to attract and sell the club to prospective players. They have completely failed in this regard once again.
@ACelticStateOfMindСағат бұрын
I can't speak for anyone else, but ACSOM constantly engages with sources, mainly agents, who work directly with Celtic. We do the legwork so that we have more of an understanding of what is happening at the club. We are, however, still able to speculate and opine, which have been valid ways of discussing football since the beginning of time.

@misterc57837 минут бұрын
@@leannecampbell4551 I don’t need convincing that our clubs preparedness in transfer windows can be lacking. I can’t disagree. But there are variables that must surely come into consideration when talking about us not getting what we want. It can’t be just “Celtic bad” at every turn. People are aware of the other factors, and acknowledge them, but then proceed to have a conversation that completely removes those factors from the conversation and conclusions. So for example, I’m of the opinion that the higher up the transfer market you go, the harder it gets to get the players you want (unless you’re top end epl throwing epl debt at it) When you operate where sevco operate in the transfer market you can pick up players easy. They are ten a penny, not as wanted as others. They have less lofty ambitions in most cases. So you can get them in. Easy peasy. And that’s not even meant as a dig at sevco. I think that’s just a fair comment on things. But where we operate players are thinner on the ground, wanted by other teams, and wanted by their current team. And they have options. A much tougher environment to compete. You can get easily “Norwich-ed” by clubs thinking it’s reasonable to expect epl fees from an spl club. I think we’d all agree with that. And if we do all agree with it, that’s the kind of thing that should temper our reaction to the clubs transfer activity. But it doesn’t seem to. And, while I’m not ignoring what acsom have said in the comments about their own insight, I’m going to go out on a limb and maintain that most of our fan insight is pure guesswork and our reaction almost entirely driven by those guesses. But that’s fitba, and logic is sidelined by feelings. Understandably. That’s literally what the game is about. I’ve also long argued that we should get players in a window early, from the O’Neill days I’ve argued for that but even that now has difficulties that didn’t exist 20 years ago. Ideally I want players in one summer to be ready for next summer. Preparedness. But if we keep our best for 2 seasons now we’re doing well so that kinda changes that a bit. There’s also this weird spot in which we have to exist as Celtic fans where our club are widely congratulated, including by ourselves, for the success of their transfer model, whilst wrapped in this endless despair of seemingly being god awful at the whole thing. The more I look around at other clubs activity, the more I think we operate just the same as most of them. I’m not pretending I don’t get frustrated with it. I know a lot of this is about the desire to push a little further for the CL, but as I’ve already said, I think we’re now at a point in the CL where further progress requires defensive quality we’ll never be able to attain, in the current market. We can spend £50m on wingers and strikers but you better have the same again for a whole new defensive unit. And we simply don’t. So is it money down a hole at that point? I dunno. it’s a discussion we’ve been having for years innit. Push the boat out, see what we can do, but countered with the view that even using all our resources wouldn’t be enough to take the steps in the CL that are now very big steps.
