I really miss those days 🤧 my grandma watched as the world turns everyday! Her and her best friend from the church sista holiday would be on the phone watching as the world turns talking about their hair and clothes and what is going on I had no idea how much I'd miss those days like I do I wish I could go back like you wouldn't believe!

My Nana, who always lived with us, used to watch various soaps off and on. I remember this one, Search for Tomorrow, and I think The Edge of Night for awhile. So I would see them once in awhile if I was home sick or on school vacation or somethiing. Usually I didn't really watch, they were kind of background. I was ten in 1961. Watching to see if I even recognize anybody.

I wish there were more episodes featuring the Lowell family--they were one of daytime TV's first wealthy but dysfunctional families, and viewers could sympathize with the point of view of each Lowell. The Ellen story, along with Penny's travails, and the Bob/Lisa relationship carried ATWT for many years. Douglas Marland consistently had the long-term characters remembering their pasts and worrying how might negatively affect their children and grandchildren.

I Remember when in Court Ellen was Grilled on the stand and Judge Lowell had a Light Heart Attack in the courtroom ,, it was so Emotional Scenes. And when Ellen,s custody claim was Denied, She Cried so Pitifully, The Acting was so Great. As the World Turns was the Number one soap opera at that time in 1961.

I'm going to talk about the commercial. Carnation nonfat milk was absolutely disgusting. My parents and my grandparents drank it. I pleaded with my grandparents to buy whole milk when I visited. lol

Another commercial that has been an earworm in my head for 60 years! "The margarine larger in Vitamin A...new, new Nucoa gives you all your Vitamin A in one, two, three pats a day!" (Oddly enough, another company is making Nucoa today, but it seems to be available only on the west coast)
