Thanks, just finished with the identical movement and this helped alot with the unusual calendar works.

Thanks for this series. I hope you don't mind if I add one criticism? Reassembly of the automatic cassette can be much, much more difficult than presented here. I suggest to anyone who is not already very adept to leave it alone if there's not obvious need.

No problem at all and yes it is a highly one because of the springs but I'd always recommend a disassembly for proper cleaning if possible.

@@spidiq8 Appreciate the quick response. I'm not nearly as calm and coordinated as yourself but I got it done with the aid of a flat piece of wood and small drilled hole. I was able to place the first half down level and slip the gear pinion through the hole keeping everything flat and fairly secure. Thanks again...

@@stevejohnson7132 It's only practice, like anything. Do it enough and it looks easier that it does when it's a first try. Well done for getting it done and the workaround. There are many ways to get something done.

Great video series of this AS movement, havent done any AS myselves so far, but it seems to be well built movements. It actually have some simularities With the Seiko 56xx series movements, that also has a sliding cannon pinion and a friction gear on the second wheel.

Thank you. I've worked on a few but this is the first of this calibre. It's a lovely well built movement but apparently the setting lever plate/spring assembly are very hard to find if damaged. It's an unusual and complicated setting.

Really helpful and informative video. Comprehensive and easy to follow..You can take pleasure in knowing that you saved a Gruen Precision from the scrap bin. Perhaps you could strip and service some more everyday movements ST 96, ETA 2301 etc.....Thankyou

That should be ETA 2391

I have stripped an A.S. 2066 movement taken plenty of vids and pics for re-assembly. It is also a Rotary. The date and day wheels are discoloured - a nasty yellowing has formed. I don't know how it comes to be like this. Is there an outlet where I can purchase new ones? I will use your vid in re-assembly as it is definitely clearer than my effort, so thank you for posting. This is the first A.S movement I have worked on. I'll let you know how I get on. Once again many thanks. I am subscribed.

Thank you for the subscription. Re the parts, you might find generic parts from supply houses like cousins but unlikely to find rotary branded, the best option would be a parts movement from eBay or similar. You often see the AS2066 with damaged setting lever or day date parts for sale as there are a lot of dial side parts which don't fare well and those parts are very hard to get.

What mainsrpings are compatible with this movement?

Off the top of my head I couldn't say but a watch parts supplier should have a listing for them.

I've got a Rotary with AS 1903 automatic movement. Ive taken off the automatic part but I cannot put it back .still trying to align all the wheels with auto parts..
@spidiq84 жыл бұрын
They can be very fiddly, as with most auto bridges, all you can do is try to get everything aligned and with very slight pressure on the bridge, turn the winding stem gently, this often helps things drop into place and align.

Finally I got it right. Thanks to your video I gain some confidence. The rotor and cassette and bridge was all together. I separated them and aligned the bridge. After about 40 minutes of fiddling around I heard a small snap and the bridge was seated. Viloa. Nivada watch is working again....

Do you oil the pallet fork pivots?
@spidiq85 ай бұрын
Never on jewelled pivots, very very sparingly on steel or bushed pivot holes such as you'd find on pin pallet movements.
