Asake - Yoga (Afrobeats Translation: Lyrics and Meaning)

In the intro and outro, Asake samples a song called "Mo Capitaine" by Mauratius Sega legend Michel Legris. This musician sang in a language style known as broken French (creole). The overall message in this sampled portion is saying "It is unfortunate for you my young lady, and all whose husbands are working on the boats. ojú t'ẹlẹ́gàn is short for Ojú tì ẹlẹ́gàn Menaing the mocker is put to shame. or in this case people waiting for his downfall is put to shame. Ìtìjú is shame. Ojú tí is a variant of Ìtìjú. ẹlẹ́gàn is mockers.

He's expressing gratitude again as he's astounded by his own success. Among Muslims, going to mecca is no mean feat and it's believed you're highly privileged if you're able to make the pilgrimage.

Yoga means union with God. It does not only mean meditation 🧘‍♀️. So you got that wrong and a few other things, the song has nothing to do with the practice of yoga and I feel offered that he and the marketing machine behind him used it. I think he is just a trend chaser. That song does not even sound like Afro beats. Wizkid is the King of Afro beats his music has so much feeling in it ,🎼no translator is needed ❤. Hi Leah 👋🏾, thanks for the compliment and I love your input. I like the way you phrased that it’s a “Union with God.” I mentioned yoga can be “to connect” but I like the way you said it better. It’s one of those things only the person practicing it can explain their purpose. I’ve heard people do it for health, relaxation, etc. I don’t know the true history and origin of yoga though but I’m sure it has lost some of its true value and has an element of commercialization to it (like most cultural things). With the flow of the song, the lyrics, and watching the music video, Asake seems to wants to step away from the noise and take some time to himself…Where in West Africa did you live? I went to secondary school in Nigeria and I recently went to Ghana a few months ago☺️
