How did you add the Header into subtasks at 1:51? I've tried finding it but I can't!

You need to press "Tab+N" to be able to do this.

I've been beating my head against a wall for weeks trying to figure out whether Asana's rules were limited to 'moved to section' and in a few minutes your video showed me exactly what I was doing wrong. It's the details for me. Thank you! I am subscribing to you to stay updated.

This was awesome - it was great seeing how to improve the use of a Kanban style Dev Pipeline w/ Asana. Would love more detailed uses of tools like this!

@@MarquisMurray I do have a question now. (little complicated). I just watched your videos on Scrum Management and Backlog & Sprints. There you were using a STORY and all the tasks associated with it were created as tasks first and set as dependencies (which makes sense to me). In this video you show the power of creating a rule to AUTO create subtasks when a task moves to a new stage in a pipeline (which is fantastic). These are both parallel ways of having tasks connected to a bigger tasks. I love the power of setting a rule to auto create subtasks - however, I want them as tasks (maybe in a diff kanban project for diff teams to track) - not only as subtasks in the pipeline. Is this possible? Or is there better way to do what I am asking? . My company creates video dance tutorials. Our pipeline is from planning>filming>editing>review>[few marketing material stages]>scheduled>live I like that as I move a task (video tutorial) from stage to stage, the subtasks for each stage can be auto created when needed (assigned to different departments on the go). But I ALSO want these subtasks to be tracked in a Kanban board. But these are all subtasks... I know if i open the subtask I can press Tab-P and assign it to a new project - where then it can live in both projects and be tracked in both. But can I automate that? It doesn't seem like a rule can create new tasks as dependencies, only create subtasks.. Is there a workaround? . Would love to know your thoughts on a creative solution. Thank you! Appreciate your time!

@Marquis Murray Thanks. I do have one question: Is it yet possible to have a rule triggered by a completed subtask? Each video I create is a task within a project, with each action step as a subtask. I want a specific completed subtask to move the video (task) to the next section. Don't see how you can do that (maybe I'm missing something). Doesn't appear possible with Zapier either. What say you?

Does anyone know if you can create separate rules for specific tasks? I feel like this is something Asana missed because I cant find the ability to anywhere. For instance only task A will get these set of subtasks when moved to a section vs task B getting its own specific subtasks
@MarquisMurray Жыл бұрын
You sure can. You can set a rule based on custom fields. Trigger: Task A is set to custom field X, add these subtasks. Those subtasks will only be added to the tasks that are using or display that custom field. Hope that helps!

Thx much! Enjoying your videos. Curious ... I like that when you create a sub-task as a rule, you can set the due date as a day _ number + before/after, etc. Q: When the rule gets set, does the sub-task's due date become a "hard date" (meaning later, you might have to edit this by hand ) or will it still flex? (based on the due date of the project?) Flowsana appears to solve this problem of flexible due dates. (have not tried it yet tho) DYK ... Is this a coming feature?
@MarquisMurray Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching bad great question! Sadly, there is no way (yet) to make subtasks dependent on the parent task. Yes, it would make sense that if the parent task moved, that the subtask would also update, but for now, we have to make those changes manually.

@@MarquisMurray Does Flowsana solve this problem? Tried it? thx for the prompt reply -- Wow!

@@danodemano2323 I haven’t tried it, but yes, I remember this being an update that Phil had rolled out last year. Give it a try and let me know.

@@MarquisMurray I did connect my test Asana account to Flowsana. Then, I added a Workflow. Still, when I edit/add subtasks, they're are NO differences when setting a due date. I was expecting the normal due date field to inherit the parent task's due date and combined with another field plus/minus number of days. But I see NO differences at all. So, I'm left wondering if this actually works?? Sigh. Are there any Proj Mgmt Software (out there) that offer sub-tasks due dates based on the project's due date?? OR do you have a recommendation for Proj Mgmt Software for Manufacturing? thx in advance. And... Strangely there is only one Flowsana video I have found at all on YT -- seems odd.

Hi Marquis, thanks for your awesome content. It helps me a lot! I wonder if you can help me with a question. Is it possible to have just one business license I the organization to set up all rules? In other words, do you know if is possible to a free license trigger a rule setted up by a business license. It would be great 👍🏻
@MarquisMurray3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question and thanks for the comment! No, it's not possible to only have one license. The minimum you can have on a business TEAM plan is 2 and the minimum on a business ORGANIZATION plan is 5 licenses. Hope that helps!
