Note: You can't fix bad sectors but the OS will ignore the bad sector. A few is not an issue as HDD has spear sectors. If your HDD has bad sectors and the only way of fixing it is to replace the HDD. The software they use is to force the OS to use the bad sector but it will go bad again. Buy a new HDD if you got too many bad sectors or if the bad sectors increase rapidly.

There is two types of bad sector, logical and physical. It will only help you to remove logical bad sectors. There is no such software to remove a physical bad sector. Physical bad sector remove means removing scratches from a disk which is impossible. So if it's said it recovered go with it. Because the other option of doing this is delete all partition and repartition and format drives, will give you same result. If it's a physical bad sector after restart if you check it will appear again.

@@marshallcarter3282 a weak sector also know as a pending bad sector. Is a bad sector waiting or a rewrite or reread. It that succeed then there is no problem but it fails to rewrite then it will be remapped to a special space on the hard drive. And the sector that was weak will be ignore and will change to bad sector. Basically just backup all the time. Less to worry about. You could try overwriting the sector with zeros then see it fixes your weak sector.

It means that you had a problem reading or writing data to that sector and the HDD wants to confirm if it's a bad sector.

Usually if you have bad sectors on hdd you identify block, than do manual partition cut out. Some partitions will be with bad sectors some with good. Sadly you cannot combine them, and partitions sizes will wary. SDD if you get bad sectors - you cannot isolate them - you just use it for steam games not sensitive data like photos. If it gives lots of trouble and pain than just recycle...

This is exactly what I am looking. I have a 1 TB hard drive that was previously used as an internal drive for a HP laptop. After the machine had frequent but random BSODs, it was determined that the hard drive be replaced as it was failing. Indeed its a drive with issues but I realized it actually has a lot of good sectors (more good than bad). So how can I be able to separate the bad from the good so that now as an external drive, whenever I plug it in to a computer, the machine completely ignores the bad sectors and only read and write in the good sectors? How can I manually choose and partition off the bad sectors? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If your HDD was SCRATCHED and has more bad sectors then do the following: Use the program Victoria HDD in read mode to test drive. Do not mark "fix" checker. Then you will find out the first and last bad sector. Like 11112222 first sector. And 22223333 last bad sector. And you have max sectors count on the screen Like 99000000. Then use calculator and calculate. And create 3 partitions: good, bad, good. The bad partition should be 1gb bigger than you counted it should be. Than delete bad partition.

When you try to use this don't forget to change bios boot setting ACHI mode to IDE and choose legacy then try it It does not show "drive is not ready" message, if it shows after this settings changed, then hdd have more bad sectors damaged

bro its so simple ig u messed up in bios settings . In your typical bios settings, in storage tab most prob ull have to go through some options until u see AHCP type optuion or AHCI i dont know exactly but yeah ull have to change it to IDE and it will fix

As we all know, bad sector repairing damages data, thus you should backup or recover data beforehand. Some Programs provides data backup and data recovery features, thus you can back up important data and save lost data, such as clone damaged disk, create a sector-level image for disk / partition, recover data from RAW drive or unallocated disk, restore lost partitions, etc.

If you can access the HDD data, backup first before running this program as it can cause the drive to become inaccessible. But yes it can repair that one bad sector in most cases. I've used this and HDAT2 for resurrecting drives for use or data recovery. If you have one or a couple bad sector run HDD Regenerator or HDAT2 2x on that drive. First to repair 2nd to see if that sector/s comes back bad.

When I ran the Regenerate all bad sectors in a Range Hard disc got disconnected during the process. Afterward, the Hard disc stopped detecting. That means there is a physical problem with your drive, which cannot be repaired by only software. HDD sound means something is not right, either media is touching the body or head is scratching the media, if you know some one who can do this you can repair it, but remember if the head is scratching the media then there will be some permanent bad sector in your drive. So it's better if you replace the drive.

I think you can get a ide to sata adapter . ..that may work right away . ....but you might need to command the computer to run the new harddrive in ide mode
