Dude, thanks for addressing the standing up issue. I'm 6'2" and 225lbs and was trying to decide on the 10 or 12 footer. I spend 95% of my time in the river and love kayak fishing and want to be able to stand up but can't in my 10 foot Perception Pescador. Thanks for the video and it looks like I'll be getting the T12.

I loooooove this yak. Can fit all of my fishing and camping gear. It took some getting used to balancing but after 3 times out I can stand right up in it like I was on solid ground. I stand and fish casting lures all day long. I can even stand eith both feet on one side of it and take a leak off the side. Granted I am 5' 7" and 130lb. But I am sure larger guy can stand just as well if you have good balance. Just maybe not on one side like I do.

Same... Was awkward on my first trip out. But by the second time i was standing and casting as if i was on a bass boat.

So did you ever get around to building the blind for this?? Link to that video? I'm looking at the 12' version for fishing/duck hunting- the back deck looks like it has some good room for a bag of decoys and other items.
@jareddavisoutdoors39085 жыл бұрын
StormLaker1975 I’ve bought the kayak blind from Bass Pro... I had to make a few mods to make it fit. Though it hangs over the ends a bit it works great
@StormLaker5 жыл бұрын
@@jareddavisoutdoors3908 Thanks! I just took a look at the blind...looks like it's designed for the 12T. Does the blind have brush straps on it like a layout blind (like I use field hunting)? This looks like a good little rig for the potholes we hunt up in NW Iowa. How comfortable is that layout seat in that rig? I'll have to show this to my father-in-law, my #1 hunting/fishing buddy. We love hunting over water, but with no dog, and both of us middle/senior age these might be just the thing to get us back out hitting the potholes like we did when both of us were younger..and when he still had his dog- the good ol day's:-).

Very nice review. I've been going back and forth between the 10t and pescador pro 10 but there is a 200 price difference to might just get the 10t. Bass pro just hasn't had them in stock and with the hurricane it probably will be even longer. Would you recommend the 10t over the pescador pro 10? I'm also concerned about loading this thing to the top of a mini van since I'm not putting racks on my Challenger lol.
@jareddavisoutdoors39087 жыл бұрын
Dailey Life if it were me in your shoes I'd have to think about a few things. Will you be mainly on big water or rivers? Do you want to stand? How much gear do you have to store? What's your budget? For me all those questions were solved by the Ascend. Good luck 👍🏼👍🏼
@DaileyLife7 жыл бұрын
Jared Davis Outdoors I will mostly be doing inshore fishing. Standing is a plus. Most of the fishing will be in a harbor along mangroves or structure in Placida FL, Boca Grande, and Punta Gorda. I'm definitely attracted to all that open deck space. I would need room for a cooler and possible a bait bucket and other gear so I'm leaning towards the 10t
@96katana7 жыл бұрын
Michael Dailey for the cost of a new 10t you can most likely find a used 13ft kayak with a paddle and maybe life vest, that will handle bigger water way better then this little yak. I got a full package deal on a trident 13 for 500 bucks. That kayak I would trust in ANY water. And it is easer to load a longer kayak on the roof of a car. Short kayaks with steep angles leave you lifting most of the weight. You get a 13' yak put the bow on the roof then slide the rest up. It's super simple and you will never have to lift the whole kayak. Get a old bath mat and put on the edge of the trunk lid so you don't scratch and your all set.

Awesome video. Qq, whats your height and weight, from the video it looks like the yak is a bit small for your size when you stand up on the deck.
@jareddavisoutdoors39085 жыл бұрын
yellowzapper I’m 6’1” and around 200lbs in this video. It’s about the right size, I do wish I would have gone with the 12’ yak but due to my storage space I just couldn’t swing it. When compared to guys fishing from 12’+ yaks my 10’ probably look small.

like to just kayak/float down creeks and rivers without fishing. I think I saw you and others mention it doesn't stay on course very well. Can you maneuver it very well on the move? When we float sometimes there can be currents and you need to paddle/steer to get out of the way of things. Can you do that efficiently/safely in this one? Would you recommend this kayak for just kayaking and floating?
@jareddavisoutdoors39085 жыл бұрын
Katey Meyer yes!! I kayak rivers all the time in it. There are better river yaks, but this kayak is a great all around fishing/floating yak.

@@jareddavisoutdoors3908 Would it be slow paddling?
@teresajames51927 жыл бұрын
Is this kayak hard to paddle? I know you said it lacks speed and sometimes tracking ability but my mom wants a kayak and I want it to be easy to paddle for her. She wants one for fishing inshore so I saw this one. So in your opinion would it be hard for her to paddle or is it good?
@jareddavisoutdoors39087 жыл бұрын
Teresa James it is somewhat hard to paddle compared to a river fishing kayak. I can’t really say for your mom though. It paddles ok but has great stability. Since this video I have experimented a little seat placement vs paddling and tracking. The further my seat is forward the easier it is to paddle. Hope this helps some.

We just purchased this for my wife and it looks really stable. But my 17 year old son first tested it and said it wasn't that stable and not stable enough to stand and fish. My wife tested it and said it wasnt that stable and she wouldn't dare stand in it! I then took it out with just a pole and life jacket and definitely not a stand and fish kayak. It wiggles when you sit in it let alone when you try to stand. I did catch fish out of it and it does have lots of room, but I'm not happy at all with the stability. I wish I could have test paddled kayaks prior to purchase. These are just my two cents worth....
