I wish more people did professional mods like this, Very impressed with you level of fit and finish. There are SOOO many of these boats out there, you could probably offer a kit for sale online. $10-15 in parts (retail $59.99 with free shipping??) and even though you have to buy the rivet nut tool..they are super useful. Good job on the video and the workmanship, you should be proud of it!

This is awesome! I've been trying to come up with a better way to mount a seat like this on my Lifetime Tamarak angler. This seems to be the perfect solution! You sir are pure genius! 👏👏👏

Nice work. I have the same kayak (same color). I took a piece of 1" aluminum angle and attached it to an inverted piece of 1" aluminum channel using rivets. The channel was left 2" shy on each end so the aluminum angle could sit on the rail. I just used #14 stainless screws (2 per side per rail) and it's working great. The seat is actually the best part of the boat. Can't say much about the rest of the boat but the seats nice.

You are just a genius! the best i found! I wanted to ask you if you can think of an idea to do the same in a kayak in Argentina called Escualo de Navío Kayaks. Queston: How did you cut the notch for the rear seat frame to fit. Was the top of the metal tube cut with a ban saw. I like your design but am limited on tools.
@HanksOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I had access to a machine shop. The top of the tubing was cut in the bandsaw and cleaned up on a milling machine. the notches were also created on a milling machine. This could all be done with a rotary tool such as a dremel or a die grinder without too much trouble.

By doing this refit you just made the kayak more tipsy... The reason the original seat is so low is because the "Center of Gravity" has to be LOW! Good Luck with broadside waves. I wouldn't turn my head if I had to sneeze if I were you.. lol
@HanksOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the constructive criticism. As you can tell by the date of this video, I have been fishing out of this setup for 6 years without issue. most fishing kayaks are designed to maintain stability while standing, so raising the seat 3-4" really has minimum effect on the "Center of Gravity". Thanks for watching "Captain"

Yosue Caridad honestly I believe you could use either with no problem. I haven’t had any leaking issues with the rivet nuts. That’s the beauty of projects like, there are many ways to accomplish the same goal. Thanks for watching.

HanksOutdoors i think your way is rock solid. My only concern could be rusting the river nut. But if you haven’t experiment any rust or leak, i will do your way once i buy this kayak. I saw the one you are paddling standing up and the one where you catch your PB on this kayak but i believe non of those vid are with the seat raised.

Hey, I just have a couple quick questions because I am interested in doing this: For the back bar: did your gear trac cover have 3 rivets in it? And if so, I'm guessing you had to remove the middle rivet? Also, not sure if you remember the measurements, but it looks like the wall underneath the gear trac cover (directly behind the gear trac for the seat itself) is about 7/8". Was the center of the hole you made thru the back bar about 9/16"? Thanks
@HanksOutdoors8 жыл бұрын
