You could make a class that is like a summoner and his attack cards are actually monsters he can place to fight by the player's side. Also you could make a necromancer class that could use his attack cards to summon a monster from the monster's graveyard to the same effect as the summoner, I imagine this as the necromancer playing an attack card to reanimate a monster of equal or lower value as the card played.
@abderianagelast78685 жыл бұрын
A few observations: 1) While a very intriguing idea, the mechanics as they currently stand are hardly a deck building or roleplaying game. There is no agency in adding cards to your deck or leveling up stats. The iteration as listed in the description is more of a deck trimming game, or like War but significantly better. And there’s nothing wrong with this fact, I just think that in calling it a deck building game you probably have some customization in mind for further down the road. 2) As has been mentioned in the comments already, there is another card game called Ascension available already that looks nothing like this one. A name change is definitely in order if this is the kind of game you want to sell, but if you’d rather it become an iconic game like Old Maid or Go Fish then there’s no real reason to worry about that. 3) If this is something you’re looking to profit off of, I would highly recommend getting custom cards made to help increase immersion as well as make things easier and potentially more varied. Each monster could be one of several types that attack different classes specifically, like one that attacks Rogues and Mages or one that only attacks Warriors. They would randomly choose other targets if those aren’t available, I would say. After that, have each player keep the foes they kill beside their discard pile and add in a shop system where players can use their slain foes to purchase new cards. They can also choose to discard the body as normal to purge a discarded card as usual. The shop could have universal cards that just work better than the generic ones each class has, as well as unique class-specific cards that are tailored to each class’s intended play style. Finally, after each round, shuffle all the enemies back into the deck and then say they get a +1 or +2 bonus to their value to easily make the next round harder to accommodate for the more capable decks each hero has.

For extra content/more ideas, what if there was a necromancer class? Basically, whenever you kill a monster, you can discard two additional cards to put that monster in your discard pile rather than the monster graveyard. This may be too powerful as I haven’t tested it but seems pretty cool to me. The reason I think it could be balanced is cause the necromancer has to spend three cards to do this ability (one to kill the monster and two to discard and add it to their own discard pile). This, while, powerful, would leave the necromancer with no cards left to defend with during defense phase. Clarifications: - the necromancer is allowed to discard wound cards as well as attack cards when using their special ability - the monsters, when drawn, count towards the 3 card hand limit and can be used for both attacking and defending. - the monster deck and the player deck have different backs, so this could be potentially powerful in that the necromancer always knows which cards in his deck are the “resurrected” monsters

Here are some ideas I had for other classes: Ranger class has skill Split Shot which allows him to kill two Mob who's sum is equal to the attacking card. (Use a 9 to kill a 4 & 5). Priest or Cleric class has a skill that works similar to the Paladin. When you kill a Mob one of your allies may move any wounds from their hand to their Life draw deck. Warlock class has Life Tap skill after discard phase you may draw back up to three attack cards but from your Life draw deck. These wounds can be used to make attacks this turn only (or until they are discarded, not sure just so long as a warlock cannot use wounds to attack that went through his discard. Only the fighter can do that) Thief class has Sleight of Hand skill after the discard phase switch 1 card between an ally's hand and your own. This can help make sure the team is making optimal moves. Or non optimal :-)

Idea: Cleric, alternative to Paladin and uses Hearts. If the other player has a Wound in their hand, the Cleric can play a card to contest it. If the card played is equal or higher than the Wound in value, then the other player can place the Wound as well as another card from their hand in their health deck.
@김주성-b1i5 жыл бұрын
A few questions here. 1. When the game ends? Do we won at the moment the monster deck runs out, end of the round the monster deck runs out, or the moment we destroy all monster? Do I die when I get 13 wounds(wound deck runs out), or 14 wounds (wound deck is not enough)? 2. If a warrior kills a club monster by Bloodlust, can they get a healing/removal bonus? (even if the suit of attack card is not same with that of monster card) 3. Can a player perform a dummy action? For example, can a paladin attack a monster with a lower-value card only in order to use their ability? (because it requires to attack)

Custom Class Class name: Duelist Class ability: Counter attack If the player takes a damage and draws a wound card. The player can discard a card from his hand and add the discarded hand’s number with the wound card, if the sum of the wound card and the discarded card are higher than the monster’s number the monster will be instantly defeated. The player will now put the discarded card and wound card into the discard pile. Class story: The player walks up to an abandoned rapier stabbed onto the ground through the rugged carpets of the now abandoned noble mansion. The player picked it up with no hesitation, as he/she knows that he/she wouldn’t be able to escape without a weapon in hand. He/she closed his/her eyes, memories, endless knowledge of swordplay flashed in his/her mind. Then he/she knew he/she could be ruthless he/she could destroy legions of monsters with this weapon, with each strike he/she will chop off those monsters’ necks. @Disthron4 жыл бұрын
I've been working on a similar concept. It didn't have classes, but rather different suits represented different things. Like Diamonds were money, and the Dimond royals were shops. Where the players could sell cards from their discard pile and buy ones that were dealt with from the supply. Have you considered using the monster pile to create a map? Think something like the Sector map from FTL ( link below) but replacing each node with a small deck of cards. You could organize the monster deck so that you encounter the Jacks first, then the Queens and then the Kings as boss-type cards that would give the game a ramping difficulty as it progressed. Just a suggestion.

I would love to see this made into an actual game with cards that explain themselves... you could keep the suits and numbers on the cards, but have art on them to designate what is what (for example, the knight would have a knight on the back of their cards and maybe a description of the bloodlust ability)... then they could have their own health decks which would be the color swapped suit.... maybe that's actually where you would put the bloodlust description and the Paladin's heal, and then just have the other 2 characters health decks say unusable.... or you could do color swapped suits for expansion characters

This lowkey reminds me of Slay the Spire, we got a warrior who can make better use of Wounds and a rogue who uses more cards but can OHKO anything in the game. Would love to see a single player mode that sees you crafting a larger and larger deck from choices as you best monsters. Having certain cards have additional effects, eg. Joker, aces, royals would be interesting, for example maybe jokers are unplayable unless you use both of them together, to gain a powerful boon? That way, having the Joker given as a choice makes you wonder if you take it and hope for another, or if you pass it for a safer option

Why is there both an attack- and defend phase? Wouldn't you preferably just destroy a monster in the attack phase to not deal with it in the defend phase? It only seems to be useful to the mage. Unless you can only attack once in a turn?
@eleuuuuu5 жыл бұрын
You can only attack once (except for a mage who can attack for a second time to monsters that are only in the 'block area'). The defense phase makes it useful for non-mage classes to minimize damage and give the mage an attack of opportunity to the monster who gets in the 'block area' during the defense stage.

I got some questions... What to use as health with for 3 or 4 players? How do warrior and paladin draw wound cards? What happens when you're own deck empties?

Even this makeshift game is far better than many deckbuilding games that are actually sold in shops. Great job, but your video can do a bit editing to cut down some redundant parts and add some background music for your video
Why is this recommended im so confused yet so intrigued

Yo homie, I've been designing a Card-Based Tabletop RPG for like two years now, and shit I wish I saw this earlier! We've got a few similarities too, like ditching crap Cards to up the average. Made me laugh. Anyway, sick game bro. See you in church.

I did understand that when a monster card from the same suit is destroyed, the player may choose between putting a discarded wound card back into its wound deck or destroying a class/attack card from the discard pile forever so it won't comeback into the game. But i didn't understand how or when discarded wound cards or class/attack cards are supposed to be mixed with the player's deck. Also the paladin's ability becomes unclear as well, since he is supposed to place the wound card from his hand back into the bottom of the wound deck. Overall great idea, but could have explained better imo.

An idea for a Cleric: the ability would be that they couldn't heal themself, just one of the other players.

class combo ideas: if u play with 2 people you can combine the paladin and the rogue to get a mad scientist who heals with his potions your team and your self i was in a 4 man party for this and we did this idea and it went awsome we also made a lot of other classes like combining a mage and a pali to get a pirate clas whos main spell is an aoe set up for a card who can be blown up in phase 4
@Spookynoises1255 жыл бұрын
Issue with the two people of the same class Colour variety is your normally incentivised to attack things that'd attack you, this switches that around and takes out a balancing aspect.

Then how about adding a third player to the mix that controls the monsters' movements?
@BamaMophi5 жыл бұрын
What if you kept the Aces in the monster decks and instead of a monster, you could allow them to be treasure chests. To open a treasure chest, you must be of the same suit or use an Ace of your own as a skeleton key. That gives specific items depending on the suit (this can be elaborated on by a per game basis or we could make a different item depending on which class opens it instead).

Can you only block one monster during the defend phase or you can block two or three monsters if you have class cards equal or higher than the monsters?

This could definitely benefit from custom cards (aka health deck showing wounds, monster deck showing monsters etc.) and it would sell million.

It does, RPGs like this are very popular, this consept is not invented for the game that he made in this video, the guy here managed to make an adaptation for playing cards of the popular game

If we play 3-4 player does we need to put more card in the monster deck? Or does the monster does more damage?

Dude. Go kickstarter and make your own custom game! It's unique and has lots of potential, change to a non-copyrighted name and let it develop, it's not just for the sake of profit, but a custom version would really fun and a more solid game. Otherwise, you could also make a custom playing cards deck only for this game, or maybe start a community, reddit, discord or something. I mean, don't feel like we demand progress from you, but if you ever feel like it, you could make something bigger out of this, I'm sure people would embrace it with everything they have!

I actually made a game like this that's due for release next year. There's more classes nd unique skills nd abilities that each class has.
2 questions. 1) You say it's 2-4 players, but did you just mean 2? If you use the other 2 suits as wound cards, I'm assuming you can only have 2 players. And 2) Do the monsters in the block lane still count as the 4 monsters out at a time? Or can you have the 4 monsters in the main lane, as well as other mosters in the block lane?
@ManoftheBats10 жыл бұрын
Good question. It is 2 players. However, if you add a third deck, you can have four players since the third deck can supply cards to two more players. I haven't finished testing the 4 player mode but you can add your own difficulty modifications. The monsters in the block lane DO apply to the total count.
