I have heard that these cards are slightly different dimensions than the Year One set cards, have you found this with your sets? And if you do, do you know if sleeving the cards helps this problem in any way if I am looking to mix the sets?

where is the year 2 edition? i cant find it....someone please reply if they know where i can find one or explain to me why they no longer make it?
@ChronoRadio6 жыл бұрын
These are unnumbered limited editions basically, so they are only in print for a short time. They are currently taking preorders for the Year Five Collector's Edition, so your best bet to find a Y2CE (three CE releases back) would be on a secondary market like eBay, though they don't tend to pop up as frequently as the other CEs these days.

would like to know if you can mix in year 1 and year 2 together?
@ChronoRadio8 жыл бұрын
You can combine any Ascension sets together. Personally, I don't tend to combine Years 1 and 2, though, because you end up diluting the Soul Gem mechanic, which only ties into about 1/3 of the cards in Year 2, so the more you combine with it, the less likely you are to have cards to let you use Soul Gems. (See my "Nate's Favorite Deck Building Games" series on this channel. All but the first ep so far deals with Ascension and its various releases.)

Does it work to have the cards double sleeved in the cardbox? Thinking about Dragon Shields perfect fit and there matte outer sleeve. Gonna order the game today and would like to protect the cards(mostly the foil)

I haven't tried, but if it would fit in a standard card box, it would fit this one.

Where can I pick this up at??
@ChronoRadio8 жыл бұрын
I got mine through MiniatureMarket.com, though Ascension's own site, ascensiongame.com has a store section where they sell them, if there's any left in stock at this point.

for someone just starting out with ascension is this a good first buy?
@ChronoRadio8 жыл бұрын
Trubblegum Yes, but the Year 1 CE would make more sense than Year 2 CE first.
@trubblegum57878 жыл бұрын
Nathan Butler thanks! one prob tho the year 1CE is $230 as opposed to like $80 for the 2nd yr! Unless you know where I can nab one that's a lil cheaper.
@ChronoRadio8 жыл бұрын
Trubblegum There is at least one Year 1 set on EBay for under $100 right now.

So, it would be wise to say that every YEAR collection is a different game? Like Year ONe is a standalone game with its expansions and so on with the other Years? EVEN THOUGH you could combine them... its not the best thing to do, right?
@ChronoRadio6 жыл бұрын
Sort of. As you pass the third year (the last one to have a Collector's Edition so far), you enter a time when they weren't releasing one large expansion with one smaller one to enhance it each year. Instead, it was a pair of large releases, which didn't always have anything in common with each other. So, early on, you could play the big sets alone, or play the big sets with their accompanying small sets (i.e. each year's Collector's Edition) as single games without diluting mechanics much, but after that, the mechanics tend to vary much more between sets. In general, I'd say to combine small sets with the big ones they were meant to be played with, and usually try to play with one or two sets only, so as not to lose the impact of the sets' unique mechanics.
@martinmengui11446 жыл бұрын
So when you are talking about SETS... the sets included in year 2 are different to the ones in year 1? Is that correct? ANd those are standalone?
@ChronoRadio6 жыл бұрын
Yes. It sounds like what you might need more than this video is to search my channel for a series called "Nate's Favorite Deck-Building Games," where I have episodes about the various Ascension releases. That would provide more detailed info. But basically each Year's Collector's Edition (so far) includes that year's large set that is designed for 4 players (such as Storm of Souls), plus that year's small set that is designed for 2 players (such as Immortal Heroes). The small set was meant to build upon the mechanics of the large set. That Collector's Edition then also includes that year's various promo cards and any theme decks they released, which are smaller items that can be mixed into any game. (How they will do this for future year Collector's Editions is unknown, since those would be two large sets from most years because they stopped with the small sets after the one included in the Year Three Collector's Edition and went only with large sets.) Typically, the small sets are considered a bit basic to play on their own, due to the low number of cards, so usually people will play one big set or combine one big and one small set to play. Any Ascension product, though, can be combined with any other. It's just that if you combine too many, then you dilute some of the more interesting mechanics. For example, if you are playing with the Dreamscape large set, you will need to generate and use a currency that only exists in that game, so the more other sets you play with at the same time, the less likely it will be that you will come across cards that will provide or let you use that currency. That's the only reason to limit how many different sets you combine or which to combine. You just don't want to end up with game mechanics you can't use due to the odds of acquiring the right cards along the way.

Hey amazing video mate, i will like to ask for Your advice about this game, I'm new to Ascension Games i just started to playing deck building game like (marvel Legendary), I will like to know what you're thinking, should i try this game out?, and what i need to buy at the start? can i start from the Year one collecot's edition? I'm confused Thanks.
@ChronoRadio6 жыл бұрын
This game and most deckbuidling games are a lot less complicated than Marvel Legendary, but they also tend to move faster. This is a pretty good one. You won't need to start with any particular set, since they all hvae their own quirks and you will usually want to just use one or two sets at most. Any of the large boxed sets or Collector's Editions would be a good start.

i have marvel legendary and ascension year 1 and 3. legendary is GARBAGE the point of a deck building game is the enjoyment of creating a deck...whats the point of wolveriene looks THE SAME but different effects? lol 14 heros really? garbage. ascension has unique cards and each deck you make will NEVER be the same and will never be tiresome. i recommend always buying new additions to ascension to spice up the play style

You can, but generally, each year's block will combine well within it's own year vs others.
