This will forever be my absolute favorite OC Remix-for any game. Rest in love and peace Reuben, I wish you could know how much your music permeates my memories of nearly two decades. Back before smart phones were a thing and OC Remix was only a few years old, I remember going through every Final Fantasy VII remix there was on OC and checking back time to time for more. One year after I'd graduated high school, I stumbled across this one and all I remember of my reaction was how blown away I was. It took me right back to Cosmo Canyon and dare I say sounded better than any official orchestral versions (forgive me Uematsu-san!) I downloaded/converted Ascension and it would end up on my mp3 player and a burned CD, to be replayed over and over for a few years. My whole family would sing the flute parts (my dad and siblings all shared that era of FVII together) in the car while my mom would just be confused lol. At some point after smart phones and before streaming, when KZbin playlists were a thing, I still never forgot about this song. I was relieved to find it here and add it to my YT game playlists. I'm very sad that it isnt on Spotify because it's all I ever use now, but time and again I'll come back to youtube just to look it up again, and to enjoy the stories and memories people write here. Someone said it's like we all lived another life and that's really what FFVII was for me. I was 12 with nothing else to hyperfocus on and a "real life" that could never have been so adventurous and beautiful and inspiring and melodic. Thank you to both Reuben and to the game and Uematsu himself for all the memories.

I was with a clan of about 20 people with Star Wars: Jedi Outcast back in late 2003. We sometimes used a custom winter map with this as the main music on our server. Some drifted off to real life, some resigned, and some vanished completely (Lana, whom I have missed ever since she disappeared to volunteer for the Indian Ocean Tsunami...) Everyone is gone now, but I remember. I'll always remember. Long live [SOD]. Dead, Crush, Dookie, Carnage, everyone else, I miss you guys...
@BowenMstr9 жыл бұрын
The map was called blueice twighlight.. and I shared that experience with you as well my friend. SOD sounds like a very familiar clan tag to me. I'm sure I've seen you around, maybe even went to war with you at one point haha. My clan tag was {JM}. That map with this music.. it was breath taking. I'm glad I'm not the only one who understands this.

I also have fond memories of that map, playing with friends late into the night. It's a memory of a bygone era but one I will cherish along with this beautiful music.

Those of us that played FFVII, it's like we're veterans of some other life we lived in another world, and we look back on our experiences yearning for the adventure again. I feel like Bilbo upon his return to the shire, knowing his life was forever changed.

This was the first remix I remember listening too from OC Remix. Such a fantastic piece. It saddens me deeply that Reuben Kee isn't with us anymore. Tragic that such a talented musician passed away at such a young age. :(
@daruddock9 жыл бұрын
+Wintroza The composer for this piece? Oh no! That is a terrible shame. It is a small comfort to know he left behind some fantastic compositions.
@Wintroza9 жыл бұрын
+Select Your Player Yeah, that is the case, unfortunately. The only video I've uploaded is another song made by him - give it a listen, you'll probably like it aswell!

It's almost bizarre how the rules go in our earthling plan: 1. Make a difference. 2. Die young.

I just made this up... Once i was told a story, Of how my father came before me, traitor to our clan and, our family. But when i had seen the glory that he laid out bare before me A peice of truth to keep close to memory - Oh if only i had known, That my father had turned to stone, Fighting off the demons of our past. Then i'd lay out a solumn decree that my father was known not to flee He was always watching over meeeeeeeeeee silently...

I know this praise may be 9 years too late, but that's pretty dope man. The lyrics are relevant and in alignment with the rhythm of the melody. Well done.

Reaching Cosmo Canyon was the first time young me ever just stopped and appreciated music for what it was. Before then, I only knew it as background to what was happening on screen, but Cosmo Canyon's theme just really stood out to me and made me realize that music on its own wasn't such a bad thing.

that would be a great idea.. but dont you think it could kill the real beauty of it? I mean I reckon it would be perfect for an important moment in cosmo canyon, like nanaki remembering his father. This is such a breathtaking composition, it would certainly bring a tear to the eye if used in the right place.
