Also there is a -1 penalty for shooting on the move. I hope you caught that in a future episode. Edit: You caught the "fail spells and get damaged" late in the report.

Wow that must be the video with the most effort put into it of all the miniature games, probably! I had a good tme watching it and you guys definitely had a good time playing the game! The game itself looks and plays very much like Mordheim, just very random because of D20. Wizard + Apprentice + a bunch of henchmen seems like an interesting idea. Great video overall, lovely setup and fantastic atmosphere. Thanks, guys!
@troelsrohde21348 жыл бұрын
More swingy, but not necessarily more random. In FG you have a 5% chance of an extreme result. In Mord it is 16,5%.

I just started playing this game last week so when your buddy said he got to add his will to his spell rolls I was like WHHAAAAAAT!? How did I miss that!? But ok that is not a thing cool. @HaWior9 жыл бұрын
Nice! I played already a few games. It is really nice game. If you moved before shooting the model that is shoot becomes a +1 bonus for inaccuracy. If you fail to cast a spell you should watch on the table, maybe you hurt your self for miss-casting. Optional Rule: A rolled '20' is a critical hit which does double damage.

Great looking table, love campaign tabletop games (collected a lot of necromunda models) how fast is the game to play? and how balanced do the rules look when it comes to skills?
@GuerrillaMiniatureGames9 жыл бұрын
+riolenn a There aren't any skills, just spells. Everyone has access to them. Every one can pick from every lore but the opposed one to start. Your School of magician influences how good you are at any given lore... so seeing as everyone starts from the same lists I'd say it's very balanced! BUT: It's a warband game. Balance goes out the window after game 1.

Cool i loved it. Here's a thing though (someone gotta root for the skellies here) if you up the table size to 4x4 shouldnt you adjust their threat range also? Love the table of course but it might also have few more repercussions.
@GuerrillaMiniatureGames9 жыл бұрын
+Isfanyar TheAccursed Yup! If you check the Campaign rules linked in the video description you'll see that a lot of what we learned in this game (we're about 10 in at this point) got applied to the rules going forward. Otherwise the creatures kind of derp around. :) They 'move' on 6" when they deploy now, making them relevant on our 'invisible' 3x3' table.

Perfect! great table u got there, well worth the rules adjustments. Love The multi leveled tower, so fucking cool for that Serie (and skirmishes)
@heathermeyer40955 жыл бұрын
the goal of the game is to reach transcendence which you can get if you learn all the spells in your class of magic and then find (not buy or make) a grimoire of a spell that is in your class of magic, then you can improve on it it has a starting casting value of 20, the player who first casts transcendence wins the campaign. you can find the full rules for transcendance in the rulebook

Hi Ash, I know it’s three years on, but your latest video on your personal contribution to Frostgrave had me looking further into this great game. I’m in Atlantic Canada and so shop at meeplemart for terrain; I read that lots of the terrain was oop back then, my question is where can I get that type of stone terrain now in 2019? I haven’t scoured the internet but I’d love a video on your top 5 terrain go to’s for Frostgrave. Oh yes, and trees ... is there a cheap place to buy pines that don’t cost $30 for one or two? Thanks for all your contributions to this great hobby. - Douglas

Love the look and concept of the game, but the modifiers seem very small (only +/- , 1-4 on a D20) to the dice rolls, does that make this game feel really luck based or swingy when you're rolling off against each other each time?
@GuerrillaMiniatureGames9 жыл бұрын
+D6Damager They stack really fast once you start adding things like spells, pile ins and whatnot to a fight. When your Treasure Hunter is swinging at +9 because of his magic sword, strength spell and an additional fighter bonus it's way less swingy. Even goombas like Thugs can even the odds against more powerful soldiers just by ganging up. I like that there's always a chance though, nothing is guaranteed. Some games the fights are almost forgone... in this one everyone has at least a chance and it leaves ROOM to stack modifiers through clever combinations and movement.

Great video guys. Have you had a chance to test the campaign system much? I've read there are issues with damage oriented wizards (elementalists) with run away XP issues since killing is the best way to get XP. Does thaw of the lich lord resolve this ? Thanks.
@GuerrillaMiniatureGames8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about it. We've played multiple campaigns and never had issues.
@troelsrohde21348 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Gold is more of a divider than XP. A high level wizard might know more spells, but he has the same amount of actions. I higher level wizard have an easier time casting his spells successfully, but if it hits and thus damage remains the same throughout the game. So only if your strategy relies on your opponent not succeeding in any spell, then you are in trouble. You should probably change your strategy though. So if your opponent make a shooty wizard counter it. The table should make it so you have limited LoS anyways. I had one game where I played a level 0 against a lvl 16. What got me was, that I ha Thiefs and Thugs, and he had Treasure Hunters and Templars.

Looks fun but I don't like the game so much. The most interesting thing to me is the Frostgrave Soldiers Box wich is FANTASTIC for Mordheim players. It comes with pieces to make up to 20 models + plenty of spare parts to make conversions. Enough to make an entire Mercenaries warband and some Witch Hunters or Hired Swords. The upcoming Cultist Box looks like it will make a great Possessed band.
