We easily fall into Hating the Sin, so much, that we begin to Hate the Sinner; or we Love the Sinner so much, that we begin to Love the Sin! We need both: Hate the Sin, because we Love the Sinner. As Christ said, ... Neither do I Condemn you; Now Go and Sin No More...Both A and B. In other words, C.

When I heard about people questioning her going to Communion, I remembered the quote that: "The Eucharist is not a reward for the good, but a medicine for the sick." We need Jesus on a regular basis to make us whole and keep us on the right path.
@meganc11993 жыл бұрын
I agree with you a thousand times! I feel like the teaching on those in mortal sin not being able to receive communion is yet another power play from the catholic hierarchy, as that is directly opposite of what Jesus did. "Be gentle to others but stern with yourself." - St. Teresa of Avila. I wasn't always living the holiest Catholic life. I've always felt obligated to attend mass even when I was doing things that were clearly mortal sins. Some give up altogether. No one should give up. There is always hope. None of us changes in a day. It can be very annoying still struggling with the same sins you have for years. God must truly love us because I can be very stubborn, foolish, and annoying. I don't know why we Christians can be judgmental of one another. I guess it is another example of human imperfection
@stephanmariahitzel61023 жыл бұрын
There is a clear difference in between judging and discern and investigate. We may and must find the truth and reject the bad, the sin. Judgemental means that we make "fun" of someones sins and faults. It means we enjoy of "being better". Being concerned and explaining good and bad is to love and to help somebody to become better, to reject sin and learn from faults. It means we improve the other and us.

Why is everyone seeming to replace the word Christian with Catholic? Something just feels wrong about that. Is it a boast of sone sort? I'm in agreement with hate the sin and not the sinner as this aligns squarely with the teachings of Jesus of loving our neighbors and praying for our enemies and forgiving 77 times. As a Universal Salvation Christian I believe this saying is a great way of saying how Jesus instructs us to be toward one another as He is with us all first.
