We easily fall into Hating the Sin, so much, that we begin to Hate the Sinner; or we Love the Sinner so much, that we begin to Love the Sin! We need both: Hate the Sin, because we Love the Sinner. As Christ said, ... Neither do I Condemn you; Now Go and Sin No More...Both A and B. In other words, C.

When I heard about people questioning her going to Communion, I remembered the quote that: "The Eucharist is not a reward for the good, but a medicine for the sick." We need Jesus on a regular basis to make us whole and keep us on the right path.

I agree with you a thousand times! I feel like the teaching on those in mortal sin not being able to receive communion is yet another power play from the catholic hierarchy, as that is directly opposite of what Jesus did. I wish there was more compassion and graciousness like Jesus, and less politics and power plays!

It is a medicine for the sick, those of us following most closely in line with Jesus are still sick in sin. Communion isn't medicine for those dead in mortal sin, that's confession. Father Mike said this in a later video

@@anonymoususer450 Lady Gaga did a lot of things that would be considered mortal sin and yet she was welcomed into receiving Communion anyway. What you don't understand is the part of Amoris Laetitia which says "Because of forms of conditioning and mitigating factors, it is possible that in an objective situation of sin - which may not be subjectively culpable, or fully such - a person can be living in God’s grace, can love and can also grow in the life of grace and charity, while receiving the Church’s help to this end."

"Be gentle to others but stern with yourself." - St. Teresa of Avila. I wasn't always living the holiest Catholic life. I've always felt obligated to attend mass even when I was doing things that were clearly mortal sins. Some give up altogether. No one should give up. There is always hope. None of us changes in a day. It can be very annoying still struggling with the same sins you have for years. God must truly love us because I can be very stubborn, foolish, and annoying. I don't know why we Christians can be judgmental of one another. I guess it is another example of human imperfection
@stephanmariahitzel6102
@stephanmariahitzel6102 3 жыл бұрын
There is a clear difference in between judging and discern and investigate. We may and must find the truth and reject the bad, the sin. Judgemental means that we make "fun" of someones sins and faults. It means we enjoy of "being better". Being concerned and explaining good and bad is to love and to help somebody to become better, to reject sin and learn from faults. It means we improve the other and us.

Why is everyone seeming to replace the word Christian with Catholic? Something just feels wrong about that. Is it a boast of sone sort? I'm in agreement with hate the sin and not the sinner as this aligns squarely with the teachings of Jesus of loving our neighbors and praying for our enemies and forgiving 77 times. As a Universal Salvation Christian I believe this saying is a great way of saying how Jesus instructs us to be toward one another as He is with us all first.

I am both the person who needs Grace & needs to give Grace, in a very complex domestic violence case our young adult daughter went through & is choosing to stay in. We have failed her somewhere but we don't know where. It's unbearable & she's chosen to block us from her life 95% of the time. That other 5% I'm railed against by her, & I understand it's not me, but that she's hurt, & hurt people, hurt people. Thanks for the message and encouragement.

Drewry, similar boat here with the family situation. I take comfort in the fact that our faith is made up of people who build one another up, and support one another along the way. Not sure if this might help but I try to relate to the Heavenly Father as my own father, Jesus as a family/brother and Lord, mother Mary as my own mother when my own parents fail - this gives me solace. You're not alone!

Im so with you on this. I don’t think it was my parents intentions (they did and do love me in their own way) but i always felt so unworthy, unwanted, unloved, not good enough...that everyone else mattered and i didnt even have a voice...im 33 now and God has done an amazing work in my life especially these last couple years. Im not all the way there, but hes gentle and so so kind to me. He blessed me with a (Catholic-which im so thankful for esp coming from the Protestant side, but thats another story) husband that has loved me so much more than i was ever able to love myself, and slowly those walls started coming down. I used to believe God could never love me because i felt so ashamed. Now i dont even recognise the old broken me. Im still a bit broken and wounded, maybe i always will be, but i know so much more, how much i am loved...a Daughter of the Most High...so thankful and so blessed 🙏❤️ il be praying for you X

I pray for my children everyday even though they seem to be venturing further and further away from the faith. I need to be patient with them just as The Lord has been patient with me. And I’ll pray for them too. Your patience for your children remind me of my parents’ patience for me. When I was young, I have some problems with controlling my own emotions. I hurted my parents a lot. But I thank God that they were so patient to me. Although I’m still not a good person as I should, I’m striving to do so because of the patience and love I have received from God and my parents. Your children will be grateful for you prayer someday, and I can guarantee you that.

Ok I just wanna say if your a Christian and saying this he also said love the sinner not the sin. It in other words to acknowledge that our brother or sister is constantly being pursued by God. In order to love the sinner, we must love ourselves enough to strive for a better relationship with God.

I love going on my own no matter if people are going to stare or judge. I can ignore them but for me it was always hard to go with other people. I got used to going alone and then I was then invited by others. I invited my mom and it's again swaying my faith. I do enjoy going by myself and wish I could invite others myself. I know God can only do that. :-) and I am very thankful when that happens.

This week has truly been one of the worst in terms of struggling with my mental health. I feel that I’ve been far from God lately, and this video came up in my recommended. It feels as if God reaches out to me and speaks to me when I need it most. Thank you so much for the video, the message hit home for me.

I was thinking, as I was hearing Fr. Mike, of the person he mentioned. How ironic. I also remember some of the posts Fr. Mike referred to and thinking, "Wow! That's such a quick condemnation by others. How are we helping her as brothers and sisters in Christ?" Rock on Fr. Mike, you're a gem dude.

This was so helpful to me! In these days where evil thrives, I feel hatred. This message of hating the sin instead of the sinner is the message just sent as an answer to my prayers this morning. Thank you!

I feel my walk has been so bumpy. I feel like a baby holding God's hands begging to help me. Grew up in church of christ. Reading on catholicism and earnestly trying to understand, my GPA is coc preacher he would very much question me going this route, but here I am trying. Then though aren't we all ? Its great to point out the sin, but just be there to help with the small steps because they are hard yall.
