I've learned the hard way that if your capable of humour and being positive in tough times, your mentally strong enough to see the bigger picture and not let emotions cloud your judgement. It is a gift of God and his beautiful ways and wish more people to be like that.

You might not be good in interviewing Father Mike but you are great evangelist. If I have not known you as priest, I might have thought that you are the actor and not Mark Wahlberg! 😄 I saw you in Bethlehem in 2018 and You smile to people and I was one of them. Thank you very much. Keep on showing the joy of Christ.

Sometimes if a person is too full of self doubt or maybe self loathing, it might not be possible to laugh at oneself. It took me a long time to be able to even crack a smile towards myself.

I think there's tremendous wisdom in this, especially in the Saint's lesson on love. The Lord answered the prayers of the Apostle Paul, when he asked that an ongoing difficulty be taken from him: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I think the Lord keeps us weak in part to protect us from ourselves, that we might rely on Him, and our brothers and sisters, and not least to help us remain humble, which we badly need in this age. Being able to laugh at yourself with others without bitterness is a sign of trust, as long as it is not taken too far, and turned to abuse.
@glennherron9499
@glennherron9499 2 жыл бұрын
The Lord keeps us weak? Never! The Lord is our strength! We tend to focus on, place to much importance on this world! If you pray to God and do not receive, you don't turn around and pray to Mary, right? A prayer that doesn't yield an answer you seek isn't something that should cause you to question God, it's an opportunity to draw closer to Him! You find His strength when you are alone, on your knees, away from the distractions. Shift your focus from what you want, what you need to what He has, what He wants for you! Weakness is a lie the devil wants you to believe, it is found when we have our attention on the wrong things! Do not let anything come between you and God!

Dear Father Mike, we (“Heather’s parents”) met you very briefly at FUS Bosco earlier this month. Thanks for the quick pic in your Captain America t shirt, haha! The cheerleader in me says, “go Father Mike, you’re great and smart and holy and our family loves you!” But the truth teller in me wants to say this: “I am a people noticer. I noticed your prayer posture during the music before the talk. I noticed (and my husband is super impressed by) your worn so well-used Bible. I noticed that you wiped away tears while singing “All my life you have been faithful”… and got choked up when YOU thanked US catechists for allowing you to be with us, teachers of the faith… you totally completely made my teens’ day when you mentioned “young ‘uns” with a nod toward them in your talk… you “snuck” onto and off of the stage not to applause but during music praising the Father…. these are all signs of your truly humble heart. You’re the real deal! Thanks be to God for the gift that you are. Thank you for your YES to that gift.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Totally agree about being able to laugh at yourself. But, I think you did a great job when you talked with Wahlberg. You got him to open up about larger themes in the movie by sharing your insights; and your excitement, as usual, was infectious. Wahlberg did a lot of these short 'interviews', but the way you dealt with it gave me greater insight into his motivations for doing the movie, as well as his own faith.

Father Mike, It was a great interview. As you pointed out, our family members are usually our “truth tellers” as you mentioned. They know us better, more personally and intimately than our followers, and of course are going to give us a harder time. And often they even are tougher than we are on ourselves. Of course, we often do the same to them. My opinion is the interview was very good, it was engaging, compelling and inspiring. The views, comments and likes speak volumes to this. I do appreciate the tips to not take ourself so seriously and to remember our Lord God’s love is the greatest, most forgiving and most full of Grace. Thank you for this reminder and thank you for your constant message. Keep doing what you’re doing in your unique, authentic way. You are a gift from Above. And I am grateful to Him for sending you to us when we all need it most! Bless you and Thank you, Fr. Mike🙏🏼✝️🕊

As a daughter, of a fire, chief, and myself, having worked in the educational side of the fire service those are pretty true words. Nobody’s gonna bust your chops quicker and the pile on its part of the fun. You can’t go into serious situations of life and death with these men and women, and not be able to joke about yourselves and not being able to have their time when you just don’t take yourself seriously. You do hard work you do real work you sometimes come home, scratched up and bruised. You sometimes come home tired and heartbroken, sometimes it all goes well and unfortunately this year they’re having more deaths in the fire service that I am part of then I can remember. We need to break the tension, move on to what is going to be the next thing. You can’t do it without the person that serves next to you in the fire house, so yes, we make jokes. We have fun at each other’s expense, but we also stand next to each other, and always have the back of the last man or woman out.

Things I love about this channel the warm way that Father Mike explains the teachings of the Church and shares God’s love. Father Mike, your interview had that warmth you share in all your videos. I watched many of the Mark W. Interviews going around (a big fan of all the wahlbergs including wahlbergers) your video was the most enjoyable.

I hear and do believe what you say about all people AND each person being definitively loved by God. HOW do I believe that at the core of my being so that it does the work in me it's meant to do? I keep operating as though God is thinking, "Aha! I knew you were as bad as I thought you were" when I sin, however minor the sin might be. This was how I was treated as a child. And while I can extend this grace and love to others, I can't seem to break out of it and embrace the love of God for myself--not really anyway.

Father Mike, you MUST starting using a sunscreen on your face before you go outside because you have some skin discolouration! It can turn into something unpleasant... I love your videos so much. Could you please make one about receiving Holy Communion in the hand...? I don't mind how others do it but after a lot of prayer I am strongly convinced about myself receiving it kneeling, on the tongue...I do not want to receive it any other way. I have read a lot about this way being the most preferable and reverent way of receiving the Body of Christ and if that is what we believe it is...I cannot do it any other way. There are Catholics who would ridicule me and say that it is an "old fashioned way". What is more, I was refused Holy Communion once even though I waited until the end of the queue...Since then I have been very stressed when I go up to receive Holy Communion but I am not afraid to carry on doing what I feel in my heart is right (again, I am not judging others for how they receive the Body of Christ). But at the same time I want to be free to do what I know is right and I am being very harshly judged by others instead...And I don't feel safe in the place where I should feel the safest! I live in the UK btw... When I was in Ireland there was only ONE Catholic Church that allowed me to receive Holy Communion on the tongue...(I had to call a few places before going to Mass, imagine!). The rest said it was impossible and the Sacrament must be received in the hand......It is truly heartbreaking. PLEASE make a video about this. I know I am not the only one struggling. God bless xx
