l grew up in lanark l was born in the william smyley in 1979 .l have been inside sir william wallaces real cave where he fled from the english after 500 infantry soldiers were sent to lanark to capture him. lve fished and climbed the most dangerouse parts of new lanark from the age of 6 years old and lost a good friend to a drowning accident some years ago .there is some beutifull and hidden places there and also so many hidden secrets there .this place is full of history although there is a haunting feeling about new lanark buired around the whole heratage village and also inside its walls. [ please do take great care of yourself when visitng new lanark and it is advisable to keep your dogs on a lead and if no knowlege of the dangers of the rivers clyde please do not attempt to swim there l have myself swam from underneath the falls with my brother and the current haunts us to this day do not take this place as a lesure camp or wildlife resort its very very dangerouse 9 people l know of have also lost there lives while fishing or swiming in new lanark so please take care everyone nd god bless if anyone needs more information or facts and details around and about new lanark l would be more than glad to help thanks to everyone who reads this Mr .P M

There are so many hidden gems around Lanark and New Lanark. I will definitely be back to explore the area more. My folks are from Glasgow, and I always remember being told that the Clyde was a dangerous and dirty river. I think that it's a lot cleaner now, but I'm sure that it's still very dangerous. I wouldn't even swim in a loch.

The first building that you showed is not the Tolbooth but St Nicholas Kirk. The Tolbooth was the building to you left as you faced the Kirk.
