Trespasser is an enigma to me. It isn’t a good game, has many bugs, and is broken most of the time. However, I love the idea of exploring Isla Sorna as a plane crash survivor while getting history of the island’s facilities and John Hammond’s story. In todays day and age. Good games get remakes but not bad games, I believe Trespasser deserves a remake.

A bad game, that is ambitious, is a hundred times more interesting than a mediocre game made by the numbers

Personally not a fan of describing Jurassic Park as an action film. I feel like this is a misconception based on other movies surrounding it, and its own sequels. The World films are definitely action, and so are some other Spielberg movies like the Indiana Jones series. But Jurassic Park is an adventure/thriller that combines various genre elements together, I can't really think of a single scene that feels like an "action" scene, outside of the brief T. rex Jeep chase. It's difficult to define genres down to such detail, but I find action requires an overarching focus on combat and fast-paced set-pieces, whereas Jurassic Park is a lot slower, and its fast-paced scenes are far more grounded and slower compared to other films.

Yeah there’s a couple scenes that could qualify as action but that’s also one of the best things about that first Jurassic Park, its genre is almost unclassifiable. Personally I think of it as sci fi/action but then it has a thriller/horror feel sometimes. Just a damn near perfect movie. -Addison

I think what you´re pointing out demonstrates the constraints of putting movies in boxes and categorizing them by "genre". Narratives can have drastic tonal shifts and present events that involve action, horror, intrigue, etc without being reduced to those genres.

@@outsideintel Jurassic Park for all its flaws is a very good and original premise, at least the basic building blocks of its execution are. That said saying it's "the most action movie ever cause it has the most premise" is a bit reductive to say the least. Personally I think the novel is the most effective usage of the premise, and while Jurassic Park is far from a bad movie I'd say it's about 60% effective at adapting the book. A lot of the intrigue and mystery from the novel was unfortunately lost in translation and I also think the reduction of violence and addition of cutesy dinosaur scenes hindered the film. I think Spielberg should've directed Jurassic Park with the same energy as shindlers list tbh. Also, the line in the novel describing the T.rex sitting I´m pretty sure is meant to describe a sitting posture commonly see in bird, particularly large ones. Google "emu sitting" or "ostrich sitting" for a more accurate potrayl. I admit the description there is clunky, but Michael Chrichton was never known for his prose, or even his characterization for that matter.

Trespasser was one of the few PC games I had in the late-90s to early-2000s, played it a lot...got lost in the same bits for hours and killed by falls/pixelated dinos over and over. 😆Excited to see and hear your take on it!

Did they really expect us to treat dinosaurs like Star Wars or MCU cameos?

Ohhh, so that's why they deleted that scene with Owen and Claire disguising their scent from the Indominus Rex with "dino droppings". Lol.

I recently had the chance/misfortune of watching JP:Dominion on a flight from NYC to Las Vegas. Man, the sheer amount of predictable tropes was nothing short of infuriating.

Funny thing is, that the shot with the fighting dinosaurs, that disappear..... This is NOT the same angle. But its hard to see. The problem is: That makes it even worse, because students at film akademies all over the world learn, what the axis is and why you should never cross it! And they did that TWICE in that movie. Its so bad, they make even mistakes, a damn film student wouldnt do. Dominion is a unbelievable mess.

I'll be honest, I thought it was kind of awesome. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever, but Pete just made it work for me somehow. Him actually having one of his hands tied behind his back and then just wailing on this dude, it was just... 🤌Something to behold.

The first Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films were very fun and enjoyable and then the films that followed were constantly declining in quality but I'd still pick Fallen Kingdom over Lost World or JP3 🤭🤫
@troythedeconstructionist1382 Жыл бұрын
Fallen Kingdom is easily the worst one. TLW at least had a few geniunely good sequences involving the dinosaurs like the T.rex raiding the camp or the tall grass scene. JP/// has the better protagonist even if it has among the worst characters. I'd also argue JP/// has at least the distinction of having the best creature design, art direction, and was unironically the point where creature based special effects peaked before descending into pure CGI. As for JW. Uh, I mean JW is bad but it at least never had the indominus rex wink at the camera or have chris pratt copy sid from Ice Age. And Dominion had at least ONE good character.
