Asgore’s Theme (Kickstarter Trailer Version)

One day, other videos relating to this will not exist. I will be the one who will join in to preserve this audio for future newcomers who find this.
In the Kickstarter trailer for Undertale, its outro leads to Asgore’s original theme (Aka Bereavement). It was different for its low pitch and different speed, and according to some, it basically sounds like every other “Asgore’s Theme (Slowed Down + Reverb).”
Now I say that, I might have to go back to uploading more of the Undertale OST in different speeds and pitch again; I have procrastinated again.

He's not really supposed to, at that point frisk literally one shots an anti human robot, and would probably be strong enough to one shot undying undyne. The only Reason sans stands a chance is because he can dodge you

Whats confusing is; wasnt it stated by undyne that he can dodge too? Im supposing this was when undyne was a kid, so he dodged easily. I mean after all, frisk is really good at stuff and i wouldnt be surprised if its because frisk wouldnt let him dodge

@@LucasVoid yeah he can, he dodged all undynes attacks when they were younger and actually trained them, Asgore literally lets you hit him in neutral, which only makes his character monumentally sadder, he doesn't dodge probably because he feels like he deserves this

this reminds me of the other cut song relating to Asgore called King description. It was a More Royal and somber version of Determination(the game over song). Maybe all songs related to Asgore were originally supposed to sound more menacing and Royal. like notice the sprite Asgore is standing straight up and facing you, Unlike in the game where he looks down to avoid eye contact. I wonder if Asgore was always supposed to be a big soft ball and this was just a case of Good old toby misdirection, Or he was originally supposed to be this Tyrant of the under ground, but was re written to be the lovable goat dad he's now.

I personally think it's intended misdirection. He's shown as Toriel describes him; a menace who lives to steal the souls of children. The gradual realization that this is dissonant with how the rest of the underground sees him is a pretty cool thing to discover on a first playthrough.

​​@@Pacca64 Asgore is more like what I like to think, is: a King who's following what he believes is right for his people. Toriel might have a point there, but he's this person who lost his son by humans, his adopted one by disease, and his wife by pure decision of her own. I think he avoids eye contact because, well, he doesn't want to kill kids, or they remind him of the son he once had. Asgore is a really tragic character to be honest.

Acctually in the art book it's confirmed that at first Asgore was supposed to be pretty much how Toriel describes him or how the King of Spades is like in Deltarune. However he was changed in the end.

They have the gaul to imprison an entire species just because of what they MIGHT do and then enact semi-genocide on them leaving their population to number in only the thousands when they number in the millions. Not only that, but a single Human Soul is equivalent to the soul of every single Monster in the entire underground so even a single member of their race is superior to most of them. As if that wasn’t bad enough they also murdered the Prince of said species after he just fulfilled the dying wish of one of their own kind: Chara The Monsters could’ve killed Chara and used their soul to cross the Barrier and gotten a bunch of human souls from the other side and then freed themselves… But did they do that? NOO! They freakin adopted the child of the same race that subjugated them and even raised them as one of their own, AS PART OF THE ROYAL FAMILY NO LESS!!! Monsters aren’t the same as Humans, they’re BETTER. It’s the Humans who are the REAL monsters… Go F*ck yourselves humanity……

It uses the major dominant chord. The song seems to normally play on a minor scale but then spices up with a chord from the harmonic major, switching between these 2 a couple times. For me it sounds as if Asgore was determined to fight, but suddenly feeling angsty out of having to kill you to free his people

It fits the monster's pov. They have a human, who is the only one who can free them, after the fight, they lose all 6 human souls, and thier king. It feels a lot more grim compared to the human's pov. They see ashore as thier final challenge, wether they were a good or bad person. After him, they finish their journey and leave. It really is a final battle for both sides.

No, guys, this is not Asgore if he actually wanted to kill Frisk. This is Asgore when he wants to kill Frisk even less. Someone on Tumblr did a peculiar analysis of the character sprite movements in battle, and how they represent the characters' desires to hurt Frisk, how much effort they're putting in. And, judging by the way this sprite looks, much like Toriel, Asgore would have been dead still. Perhaps back during the Kickstarter, one too many similarities were intended between Frisk and Chara. Perhaps Frisk would have been granted more of a direct dialogue. Perhaps there weren't already six more Souls that Asgore had harvested, numbing him, if only a little, to the torturous process of killing someone.
