Don Robbins Yes... and a high standard for young musicians to attempt at that time. Few, if any, reached that caliber, but all who tried became better players from the influence of Keith Emerson, Greg Leke, and Carl Palmer. Thank you ELP

Earlier last year, I started really getting into Prog, and Google play recommended ELP's Brain Salad Surgery based on my selections. I purchased it, and it was during Karn Evil 9 that I realized that it was where we get the "Welcome back my friends" song that is always played on the radio. It was one of the most amazing musical moments I have ever heard. RIP Keith Emerson.

I thought when I was younger this music was unusual and not mainstream, it was at the forefront of progressive rock. I was just learning the piano. I did n't appreciate the brilliance of the organ keyboard playing but this is absolute keyboard playing at its best. Emerson raised the bar of keyboards in a time when electric guitar was at the forefront. An incredible keyboard player, few will ever rival him and best rock keyboardist followed by Rick Wakeman. Emerson had more of a rock feel than Wakeman. Any credible rock keyboardist will no doubt acknowledge Emerson as finest. Use of sounds via moog, keyboards incredible . RIP Keith Emerson, than you for your brilliance and the legacy and light you have shone for keyboard players.

Question: wasn't this album recorded in *Quadraphonic Sound?* I believe the ending of this epic featured the last keyboard loop going around and around the listener, if you had the four speakers & set up at home. I never had that, myself. Can anyone confirm this distant memory?

Thanks, I'll take the bait. Frankly, there is no comparison. "Better" is a opinion based, subjective term, and to pit Yes v ELP is like comparing apples to oranges. While both groups get categorized as "progressive rock"; their styles, approach, intent & purpose couldn't have been more different.

Sorry, I have understand nothing about the discussion between ELP und Yes aspectly to progressive Rock: But always they were my favourites in all rock music. All their rock was always near by best classical music. In my young years-1970 etc, I heard very much of my time music from these both:ELP and Yes.Surely, I knowed many others. But these twos concentrated often my ear.
