Red: chose charmander in honor of his father, filled up an empty pokedex, caught 150 of the 151 including legendaries, lost to his rival once and it never happened again Ash: got pikachu cause he was late, had a filled up pokedex, didnt catch em all in any generation, won to his rival once and it never happened again

As much as the OG Pokémon anime holds a special place in my heart, I have to give it to Red since he earned each of his victories. Ash never truly defeated Brock, Misty, Sabrina, Erika or Giovanni and Charmander, Squirtle and to a lesser extent, Bulbasaur allowed themselves to be caught.
