When Nate is jamming it's honestly nothing mind blowing BUT when he's playing in context (of a song) he executes everything he's suppose to. To me that's a real bassist. Btw using a plectrum doesn't diminish anything.

Wow, lots of negative responses. I ordered this pedal last week from Sweetwater. Got it on the following Wednesday and used it for the first time in rehearsal last night... I LOVE this pedal. I set 1 to be just a mild distortion and 2 with a lot more growl. We got it dialed in perfect with the guitars and once we got into our faster, louder songs it gave me just the perfect amount of drive and the guys loved it. It is great if you need a little more drive to get your bass sound up there when things get loud. I love the video, love Nate Mendel and I love this pedal. Definitely a keeper.

I've really enjoyed learning Nates bass lines not overly intricate. Yet not too minimalistic either. Knows exactly what to do for each individual song. Ntm his signature bass is easily the best precision bass Fender makes for under 2000.

Great pedal, it doesn't colour sound, there's no EQ with it too. The distortion part of it doesn't loose low end, but it's more fuzzy so it needs to be used stereo out with the overdrive end adding clarity. If you don't have two decent bass amps then it's perhaps not worth it. When using this pedal it's all about your playing and how good your amps are. It's works way better with tube amps. I used it for a year on tour playing bass and it was amazing for the price. Coupled it with a transistor and a tube amp.

I use AAA gear and blow minds with it. It's a combo 300 watt 2 10's and the best distortion I've ever heard on any bass just by hitting the drive button. However, it's the clean tone that ashdown engineering is known and loved for. Dark and fat. Tube tone. There effects pedals are an atrocity though, I agree, sadly.

They do have a good selection of seperate high wattage heads, all the way up to a 1000 watt monster. They also have 300/400 watt tube heads. As far as combos go, they make a 2x10 and a 1x15 with a 500 watt head. They did make some cabs with 12's in them, but they apparently did not catch on.

NM2, cool pedal! Nate doesn't need to play a bass solo to prove that he is a great bass player...
@problemchild13135 жыл бұрын
Yeah he's sort of like does less than Adam Clayton in U2 but he's a rhythmic bass player and can hold the rhythm well and support a hard rock band like the foo fighters without taking attention away from the rest of the band. The Foo Fighters as it is plays no thrills rhythmic music, no lead instrument guitar or solos, it's all straight rock chords and that's it..... i would say they they are in complete contrast to a band like the Chill Peppers where each instrument is playing lead, fillers and grooves and there's much less focus on simple rhythm.

What's the interest of using a distorted bass sound...? Perhaps on a showing off solo...? Other than this it will destroy the musical harmony.
@Sixshooterbaby10 жыл бұрын
There is great interests of using a distorsion on a bass! Just listen to "Spread Your Love" by the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, or just any Rage Against The Machine song, The Distorsion on the bass is really making these bands sound so powerfull!
@YFZ5210 жыл бұрын
Lots of "Stoner rock" bands use distorted bass, listen to "Badlands" by Church of Misery for a prime example.
@emansami225210 жыл бұрын
RHCP, Muse, a thousand other bands? You won't destroy the "music harmony" if you have a distortion with a clean blend knob to mix in the dry signal along with the distortion. The NM2 could have perhaps benefited from this, but to me it sounds full and balanced without it and doesn't really need one. It sounds like that's was he was going for anyhow, a balanced overdrive that isn't full on buzzed out.
