I also find the criticism about graphics odd. I even find the criticism about the game's combat odd. I think MMO's in general are really fun because of their systems and long term progression paths, not necessarily because they have impressive graphics or top tier combat systems. I do think AoC's systems and long term progression paths are fundamentally innovative in a way that will prove to be really compelling and that hasn't been seen before.

Graphics don't make a game, combat can (if that's all the game is, but how many people play Runescape?). Only the GAME makes the game and this game is looking like it will be on a level no one has seen before and like BG3 it will set a new bar, draw in more people than expected and be more successful than imagined.

graphics is fine,but combat is still meh and this is a huge problem for PvP oriented game!Yes systems in AoC is crazy,but they cant fuck up with combat man!

I think it's more a criticism of art direction instead of graphics, stylistically it feels a bit generic compared to a lot of other games like say Elden Ring which doesn't have the best graphical fidelity but has a lot in its style. The combat concern is also people who probably didn't like gw2 combat and concerns about it feeling a bit floaty in addition to pvp and the ever present concerns about scaling in a more pvp centric mmo (more than its contemporaries at least). The long term progression and scaling of characters generally more at odds with pvp centric gameplay and favoring as Ryve mentioned, snowballing and zergs. I'm generally saying this as an old mmo-head from a lot of the old pvp wow killers back in the day like AOR and a lot of survival games, snowballing and permanent progression is what usually nixes a lot of these games, RUST stands in contrast because they figured out how to make the formula work but a game like Ashes needs hard counterbalances to zerging, snowballing, and griefing if it wants to keep its player base around (yes I know the corruption and bounty hunting systems exist but with the way they are being implemented it feels much more like larger guilds/groups will just find loopholes as it feels like a fence when the designers need to build a wall).

They are receiving some feedback all along from internal and small tests. I personally don't have a problem with it. However, now that we are moving into higher level systems, larger testing groups are needed. Once most of the systems are in place, they can open it up to alpha.
@CatSnievans9 ай бұрын
That's true, it looks basic, but more than likely the higher tiers will have their own or add more to it. As what they showed us, the tree was almost complete with only around 4 skills left to add points into around the novice level. But yeah, they do need to get it into the hands of a wider group of people so that we can get in that objective feedback instead of only guessing from the curated sections. ^^ Great vid, bro!

tbh people need to stop complaining about things before they even tried the system like wait to A2 for alot of things tbh
@empire52359 ай бұрын
Yes need to get hands-on in A2 before you can honestly pass too much judgment on how systems work and feel. Far too many people have created AOC in their heads and will be nothing but disappointed when reality does not match the fantasy they have created. Far too many people do not bother to do much in the way of research into games before they start playing them then rage when it does not measure up. Certain content creator that numpty.

Wait till they realize you really DO need to be in a group and that there's a Death Penalty :D
@empire52359 ай бұрын
@@Penumbra-AoC Back in A1 when I first died the item drop came as a shock because I had forgotten about it but it just made me more cautious. I did feel kind of guilty picking up the drops others had left behind when they had died and in some places, there was quite a bit of stuff to pick up. It will slap people in the face so badly that I honestly expect people to quit over it. I love MMOs and the biggest reason is to play with my guild mates, keeps me playing some games far longer than if I were solo and perhaps that is the real problem with MMOs now they are far too solo-friendly so people don't build social bonds complete the content and move on because they have nothing holding them to the game. Not saying there should not be solo at all but honestly, for me, MMOs are about being social.
@Penumbra-AoC9 ай бұрын
Challenging content is great, having to group up to even grind some spot on the map is something they will have to get used to, and you're right some will quit. "But this game isn't for everyone" but those of us the know the core systems and look forward to them, this game is going to be EPIC

I don't need to play the game to know that non-instanced housing has always been frustrating in every MMO. At this point I refuse to play a game unless I have permanent instanced housing. I put in years toward my ArcheAge house, but I had to get a new credit card after some fraud. In between sorting that... my ArcheAge subscription lapsed. Suddenly, I lost EVERYTHING. It took me almost a year to get the specific plot I wanted. Never. Again. I didn't enjoy fighting for a particular plot. I didn't enjoy my annoying and gaudy neighbors with their horrible decor. Instanced housing with our own farmlands is the way to go. Someone should be in our guild, friend's list, or party to be able to enter our farmlands. Steven is out of touch with what the RP community wants. He likes ArcheAge housing. My guild and I tried ArcheAge. Most of the time... 90% of the guild was unhappy and waiting for a shot at the plot they wanted. We all simply moved on from ArcheAge due to how bad housing was.

Agreed, housing was pretty bad in AA. Remains to be seen if this version is better

Completely disagree. Grandmaster should be limited to a single artisan profession. Being completely self sufficient goes against the philosophy of an MMO. We don't want yet another single-player ''MMO'', and it is not what the creators want either.

The change doesn't make you self sufficient at all though, at least on paper.

It also automatically devalues the Grand master title and the value of player choice.@@RyveGenesis

before anything will have to change in this game, the GAME must come out and exist on the game market because at the moment this game does not exist
